Incase you're unaware: The 4 note card is 4 16th notes, not called quarter notes or quadruplets The 3 note card is called 8th note triplets, these are 3 8th notes played in the same time it would take to play a quarter note (or 2 regular 8th notes) The two notes card is 2 8th notes The single note card is a quarter note The squiggly line is a quarter note rest - keep the time for a quarter note but don't play anything. Every bar needs to have all the time accounted for. You cannot put 3 quarter notes together if the time signature is 4/4 you put rests where a note isn't played - the time would become 3/4. Likewise you can't put more notes in a bar that the time calls for. If you have 3 quarter notes you can't finish the bar with 3 8th notes (unless you put them in a triplet), otherwise you would be changing the time signature. If you put an extra 8th note into a 4/4 - it would become 9/8 time. If you want to continue a note for a certain duration of time without stop you would connect the first note and the second note (and any more notes) with a tie - technically this can go as long as it can be sustained by the instrument or the performer - so as long as it is notated as such. You cannot add notes into this tie except for where you want to stop the note or to help the performer understand the time. This is also dependent on the instrument. A single note instrument cannot play other notes while also playing a sustained note. If you want to play a note but sustain it to another note - such as G to C (like with a trombone) you would connect the notes with a slur, similar to a tie. You can also achieve similar results with dotted notes. A dotted quarter note is played in the same time as a quarter and an 8th note combined. A dotted 8th note is the duration of an 8th note and a 16th note combined. You won't find any dotted 16th notes, if you do, good luck. A double dotted quarter note goes a step further to be the duration of a quarter note, an 8th note, and a 16th note combined. You will rarely see these. If you do, may God have mercy on your soul. Rests can also be dotted. Time works the same way as notes. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

Of course, since with more strings + longer necks, it can maintain the stability of the string tension while still be able to reach the lower tuning. 🤷‍♂️ It's not always the matter how "how many strings you actually use".
@hadifelani
@hadifelani 2 жыл бұрын
I doubt any normal six stringers like Les Paul, SG, Strats, Teles, etc can main both of their tuning stability and string tension if they were down-tuned without needing to change into a crazy thick strings that doesn't even feel comfortable to the fingers 🤷‍♂️

@@tiraflechas6817I finally made the decision to switch to a 9-string despite finding the 8-string a better range to chug in most situations. But I needed 9 strings because 8 aren't enough for certain four-octave extended arpeggio sequences I harmonize with piano/keys on. I'm much more of a shredder than a rhythm guitarist so I use all the strings a great deal of the time but I'm definitely still gonna ride the deepest few or even very deepest one in a lot of heavy genres for many song parts. It just makes sense. It's the kick drum. Hating on deep string chugging is kinda like telling a metal drummer not to use so much kick. Any metal drummer is gonna use a ton of kick even if they can use the whole set and do. Kinda like telling a bassist not to slap too. The power is necessary.
