Their snare feature in the opener were they were playing the same thing as the pit was the most beautifully written 30 seconds of music I’ve heard 💯

Coolest bit of writing from WGI last year imo. It’s unfortunate that the choreo design had led to so many debates about what they should or shouldn’t have done. All I know is it’s the best bit of snare drumming from the activity in the last few years 🤷🏻‍♂️

Measure 16 looks off maybe. I think one of those left cheeses is an accent if you watch the video, it seems slight.

I have the real copy, it’s 3 left cheeses first is accent, second is tap, third is accent all with 9-3 written in. They play it a lil lower than that. Also this transcription has bar 5 wrong after the 5let 3s it’s just straight sixteenths L r l X l l X r

I would much rather see and hear the snare feature without the visual distraction of whatever that was dressed in gold flailing themselves around uncontrollably in front of the performers. We can only take so much information in at a time. Why cloud up the process with visual distractions? Why you ask? Because the score sheets have a build up of visual enhancement categories That's why. Stop it! Just drum. We love it. This has been an unpaid opinion of a boomer who marched D.C.I. way back in the Fred Flintstone days. (1980) I love what's going on with the drumming today. Just not the visual distractions. Maybe I just need to listen to the audio and turn off the visuals.

I see where your coming from but I personally like all the visual going on. I feel like it was just enough and not to much though

@@mxxthw I get it. I'm old school. I mean, when I marched D.C.I. every corps had a "standstill tune" where they parked and blew. Different times and different ways of doing things. Still, music is music and I'm glad I came along when I did during that era. I do appreciate and admire what's going on today though. So many great groups out there.

WGI is more theatrical than DCI. Hence all the visual. DCI is much traditionally inclined and reserved for the field vs indoor percussion. Whereas indoor has much more opportunity to be more expressive in the art of the sports. That’s why there’s expressive tarps and uniforms as well as choreography. I personally fell in love with indoor because how much music time percussion got vs winds. The sport has evolved in the last few decades. Hence why indoor will be indoor and outdoor will be outdoor. Unfortunately I’m personally not a huge fan that indoor has affected outdoor with uniform changes/theater on the field. I still prefer the old school ways for marching band. That’s just me. I grew up in a time between all this where I got to see things before the changes. Albeit things will continue to evolve I suppose

@@Paradiddles.1 I agree with you on the point that outdoor has become more like indoor. I haven't looked at the score sheets in depth, but I'm sure there must be a build up sub caption with visual enhancement playing a vital role.

Am i the only one that find ut weird they played this whole lick standing in a line? This moment was begging for some extra movement/drill/body choreo/prop use/SOMETHING
@Jiroche
@Jiroche Жыл бұрын
pretty hard to burn invert flam tap figures this clean and do a lot of movement, plus it looks pretty badass to ram some notes in a line like this with the stomps as a nice little touch

@Jiroche credit to the players. It just came off as a relic of WGI past rather than imaginative/ innovative as I have come to know X performances to be I don't think any of the other top5 groups had a stationary "park and bark" snare solo... correct me if I'm wrong

It’s refreshing. If they did really hard drill and choreo during their break then they would be every other WGI snareline. The fact that they just stood there in a line ramming notes makes it memorable.
