French is my mother tongue and I must say that you have the most understanding voice of all the tutorials I listen on the tube. Also your videos are so interesting and useful. I'm an expat living in northern Thaïland so if you ever come in this beautiful area of the world I'll be glade to show you some of the wonders of this country.

When I first started "producing" or engineering (as some call it), I was randomly playing notes to see what sounded good. The music that I created in FL Studio sounded good, but I often got stuck on so many places: running out of ideas to fill empty spaces, music tracks sounding repetitive (using the same chords), and chords unable to resolve (as you've put it so beautifully in a different video). Using the tips that you give me, I feel that I will have a more developed "tool belt" to produce the perfect sound. I can not thank you enough, sir. Please continue doing what you do.

Hats off to you, Rhythmic Canada!. These tutorials are indispensable. Honestly, I've seen 1000's of videos on KZbin related to the topic, but never ever had I seen a video with such a great depth of teaching put into it. Your style of explaining is just superlative to all I've seen to this date. Would really love to learn more from you in future...

Love your style of teaching. I've been using an acoustic to write music, and can write the melodies away from the keyboard. Mostly, I like to set prose to music, which is a different dynamic altogether. It moves in and out of styles and timbre almost constantly, a lot like opera can I guess.... but I'm not writing opera, just prose set to music. Now though? I was wanting wanted to work on chord-first writing so I could teach that to my students more fluidly. THIS WAS PERFECT. I had fun writing my first melody this way. I'm still singin' the tune........ and hearin' your style of teaching in the background...... Thanks!

Oh man i hope this project was not abandoned I really enjoy these videos so far and really need help learning music theory and mixing down my music. Where to add effects to my guitar like do i add it in Sonar after i record or do it before? so many questions!
@RhythmicCanadaStudio
@RhythmicCanadaStudio 9 жыл бұрын
nocturnal626 I hear you. Those are some of the most difficult questions. e.g. Compression before EQ? Or the other way around? I think of Mixing like cooking (I know, I'm crazy), but choosing the right spice in the right order makes the whole difference right? Well, the cool thing about working in the digital world is that it doesn't have to get printed before you can hear the result. So, place the effects in any order and listen to it. If you like it, then you're doing the right thing. A lot of Mix Engineers have a usual way of working with a specific instrument, or vocal, or whatever, but sometimes changing things up can bring out unexpected flavours in the sound. So even for those that have been doing it for a while - switching things up can be quite educational.

+Rhythmic Canada Wonderful news that you intend to continue. As others have commented on all your videos, there are many many sources of learning on chord progression, the math behind notes and triads, but for those of us who find these concepts non intuitive, your videos are the only ones that are worth years of study. If there is any way to BUY your content or take paid lessons from you via Skype, please advise. If not, then we will be patient (all 16 thousand of us), but please don't disappear! This is gold.

Hi I use Logic as my primary audio software (DAW). Logic will recognize almost any MIDI keyboard plugged into the Mac. The Piano sound is an instrument insert plugin called Pianoteq. They make an amazing piano. The graphical notation is also done within Logic. Sometimes it's a live recording and other times it's recorded before and patched together during video editing. The sound is processed by either the SM57 or U87 (depending on my mood lol) through a Neve 1073 pre straight into Logic where the Mixing happens. Soon I might add the Distressor or 1176 to the chain though. Once the vocals are polished a basic Mixing happens (ducking and addition of the other sounds). Haven't spent too much time Mixing really. I plan to do that for future videos. Make it sound more professional y'know :) Hope this helps

Thank you so much for your helpful videos. May I suggest that you not add in background music as it is very distracting. Music for the intro and outro is sufficient. I realize it doesn't bother some people but there are those of us who really don't like it. Your teaching is amazing without any added help.

Is the sound out of sync? Looking at the piano roll, when I expect a chord to ring, it seems like it's a beat behind. UPDATE: what the hell, it just fixed itself in another part of the video. As if it is a bug with the DAW.
