Checking out your channel Nick & Rachel and this adventurous creation. Agree with Jason @ 1:33 the beach is gorgeous, less brutal than the Atlantic and glad to see you both wearing head-coverings and hopefully sunscreen😎 Loved the exploration aspect of this trek with your new experiences in the environment; full watch support always 👍🏽25 and greetings from the Mid Atlantic States🌿Congrats on the amazing surf sounds, without crackling; your camera's wind deflector must be really high-end!

Hey thanks for checking the channel out! We appreciate it 😁 We really enjoyed exploring the beaches out in the Pacific Northwest absolutely beautiful completely different than what we're used to! The following week we were on the beaches in Florida crazy how different it felt 😅 Thanks for watching!

Wow those waves are spectacular! This is such a typical winter day in the Pacific Northwest, especially at the beach. Overcast cloudy,cold and windy😂🌊☔️ It’s very beautiful there, no matter what time of the year. Great share, thanks🤩

So glad we got to go on the day we did see all the big waves 😁 Yeah that's exactly what I wanted We timed the trip perfectly I wanted to experience that moody weather the whole time we were there and that's pretty much what we got 🙂 Can't wait to visit in a different season! Oh wow, adding captions now. Was it because it was windy or to get attention when the video starts? Bet it took awhile to add them. So pretty there. Anyone surf with those tides? We’ll have to get your book. We don’t have beaches like this in the midwest. Holy cow Rachel’s pocket is full. That was close enough. Don’t want to get trapped there for sure.
@NickandRachel Жыл бұрын
It was really windy so I was decided to go ahead and add them. And yeah it did take like an hour extra lol I'm not sure if anybody serves out there just because of all the rocks. Who knows I could be wrong but that day there was extremely high winds. I'm sure Rosalie will like it! Lots of animals and learning about their habitats in the book. We actually had to run all the way back and it was really tough! When we made it back the tide was past where we walked in all the way to the Driftwood.

When I say we were running back I mean we were really trying to get back we honestly thought we were going to get stuck lol I didn't have time to pull out my camera plus our knees and legs were killing us running on those rocks We were sinking every step.

It's "bull kelp." Assuming that log you showed crossing was the only one, you had a remarkably easy crossing of Ellen's Creek! Sometimes you have to walk on logs 10 feet up over the backed up creek. And when it's icy out, or the log's are covered in snow, lots of fun. If you get back to south side of Ellen's Creek with a high incoming tide you can walk back to the parking lot on trails up in the trees. Best agate beach. That green rock was lovely.
@NickandRachel4 ай бұрын
I would love to see it covered in snow that would be awesome! Don't know if I would be climbing on the logs there we're not used to the snow here in Georgia 🤣 I remember looking it up after we left it is bull kelp Rachel kind of said it in the video I believe but the wind and the waves were too loud for it to pick up good. Appreciate you watching the video! We have a bunch of Olympic National Park videos in our playlist from when we visited last year and we just got back from doing a tour of Oregon and will be uploading them soon 😁

@@NickandRachel Also, those tracks: Looks like racoon. OTOH, my first thought was river otter since it's near lots of water and we've seen them fairly often on the Olympic coast. However, after carefully looking and reviewing ID photos (good ones with explanation here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2bbcqmveLh5rq8) I do think it's racoon. They are plentiful on the Olympic coast (to the point of being an aggressive pest around camps). We prefer not to see snow on the beach. It can be pretty but it's cold and wet! Combined with wind, it can be miserable out there. We prefer sunny and (at least relatively) warm ;-), which happens even in winter. Happy trails...
@NickandRachel4 ай бұрын
That's what we thought it was raccoon tracks. I would have never have guessed in a million years that it could get warm on those beaches during the winter lol absolutely love the Olympic coast it's so beautiful ❤️

And actually wasn't too bad. We had on our down puffies and clothes under it paired with the raincoat so we were pretty warm. That beach is amazing would love to go back and see it on a clear day!

There is a trail, inland from Hole in the Wall there is a path. Need a back country pass to hike there. Look for Shi Shi to Rialto.

I've actually heard of that trail. Wouldn't mind doing if we ever found our way back to the Olympic national Park!

Do you remember how high the tide was? Wondering if we can get that far at high tide in a couple of weeks when we go?
@NickandRachel7 ай бұрын
You don't want to go when the tide is that high. Trust me. It's really scary coming back We had to run a lot of it and we barely made it and the water line was all the way up to the driftwood and you don't want to be scrambling on that for 2 mi back to the trailhead it's rough!
