Very nice. What do you think about using thermal wax transfer rolls and slit into ribbon for thermal typewriters?

I haven’t tried that, but it sounds interesting!

Nicely done. The 3D printed hubs will be in demand. I'd like to print some at my public library 3D lab. Is the file downloadable on thingiverse? For eyelets, I bought a hole punch/eyelet driver tool from Lee Valley Tools. The brass eyelets are 5 mm ID which is a perfect size for typewriter ribbons. Daniel

Hi Joe, Wow that was wicked man! I admire and look forward to building mine one day, for now, with only 5 typewriters, I feel I don't have enough to justify doing that, but hopefully I'll get more and then I will. My Wife and I are looking to buy a single story home that's a little bigger than what we have, and she has her reason, but mine preytell is, so I can collect more typewriters! I like your build, I like all your builds. They make me think of how I can follow that, but then without a 3D printer will have to circumvent those parts and substitute a stand in part. And wish you will open an shop to buy these things from you. 😊 I do have a question, It's sometimes hard to find eyelet ribbons, I for example would find one seller online and order from them, come back if good, but they are sold out, or maybe the ribbon wasn't that good and I'll look for another seller, OR for example, I'll find a company that sells different color ribbon and I'd like to get a solid Green ribbon, love green, but they don't do eyelets, so to remedy this problem(s), I bought an eyelet crimper and eyelets, and so I was wondering, not ever having done this, do I: A: Need to put a tiny hole into the ribbon where I want to place an eyelet, before mashing it down like I do the like button for all your videos, or can I; B: Just Robert's your Mother's Brother, or Bob's your favorite Uncle 'it' down on the ribbon? Lol, just 'send it' as my mechanic friends say, down on the Ribbon like a Barbarian? 😊 I think I feel better when I watch your show, your channel is a kind of therapy and your like the Bob Ross of Typewriters! I hope that cones across as a compliment my friend. Does the ABQ Typewriter Society have a foreign State Office so people without a Typewriter Society can join lol, Once my legal battles are over I plan to look into starting a branch for my state/town and a Type-In. I was just reminded of that Dean Martin song, Houston, when I said town...."Well it's lonely in this here Town, everybody puts me down, Im a face without a name, just walking in the rain, going back to Houston, Houston, Houston." Sorry, I sometimes can break off into song, it's a disease my Mother has it. Lol. Thank you Friend, and hope your Friday and Weekend is a relaxing typing day! Cheers as Always.

It's best to have a starter "hole." For crimping eyelets I fold the ribbon over at the place I want the eyelet, then snip it with scissors to make a small slit that runs lengthwise to the ribbon. It only needs to be long enough so the body of the eyelet can protrude through, then crimp it!

@@Joe_VanCleave Okay, thank you I see what you're saying, which makes better sense, I just didn't know if the eyelet can cut or hand on better without, well never done it before explains everything lol. You responded while I was editing lol, thank you Sir! Also, I was watching one of your old videos today, and Thank you For your Service, I have military all around me in my family, I have a cousin that's a Commander in the Navy, an Corman in the Navy Brother in law, My Dad was an Army Veteran of Vietnam, a Corporal he received double Silver Stars, my Father in law a retired Marine service during Vietnam as well, My Sister in law is an Air Force pilot, two Uncle's both service during Vietnam, one a Marine And the other Army. My service was with The Fire Department, retired at a Captain rank, which the Fire Department is very Paramilitary, my Dad didn't want my brother and I to enlist and it's something that bothered me for years, but I was happy serving my community and State, as a State Firefighter and Medic. I remember telling my Dad I wanted to put in my payment, and my Dad said I paid enough for all of us, you and your Brother are all paid up. I absolutely support all branches retired or active service men and women, Any who read this, Thank You so, so very much! ❤🇺🇲

@@Joe_VanCleave Hi Joe, One of my more serious jobs in my Youth, I look back and think no way should a 21 yo have been doing this but okay, lol thankfully no planes ever had an issue, but I worked for FEDEX at an airport Hub center with airplanes, and eventually worked there long enough to get into Hazmat training and this was back in the day when the FAA would instruct us how to drive the nose gear car I forget its real name think it was numbers, also it was the design for the troop carrier in Aliens that James Cameron movie, and on rainy dark nights, it felt like I working on LV-426 at the colony, but I learned and I backed a plane out which I got to do a few times and it was terrifying and exciting at the same time. But then I moved up to Ramp Agent and had to balance load the aircraft for airworthy balance and my God I was a kid what were they thinking....I was like okay, took the clip board after training my first windy and rain night, on LV-426, lol, oh man, then I upgraded later in life, and became a Firefighter. I'll look back in 10 years and say what were you thinking, and I'll say, it was my calling. I'd gladly do it all again, working as a firefighter that is, I think you knew what I meant. I remember Another job I had in sales, and I after a year wanted to move up into management and I said I feel I can be a leader and do more, make serious decisions, and my boss laughed at me and said no way just stay on the ground, then some years later I became a Captain and paramedic with the Fire Department looked like he was wrong. Always drive after your dreams with the peddle to the floor and both hands on the wheel! Good Wednesday to you!
