This is a portable electric I've never seen before. I'm all about manual typewriters and all about Royal typewriters. For a portable I'm looking for a Futura. Yeah, I'm sure it's named after the Space program. There was a LOT of that going on at the time. I always turn the type force down as far was it can go and use double sheets of paper as I was taught in school. I've always been a bit intimidated by electric typewriters , but this one looks nice.

I think my new old typer is a Royal Signet, looks about the same, I had to click the thumbnail and when you mentioned the issue of how they type hard I was laughing because I was just talking about how mine punches through the paper and makes holes and Im using dummy thicc paper, I'll be trying this fix soon and will let yall know what happens.

Did you try a 1/2"bi color ribbon to see if it worked Joe? Lanney is wonderful at ribbons unlimited. Such a nice guy! I have an SC T-80 and T-82 that has a Singer name plate. I also have a JC Penny cartridge style . The last is an Industrial Underwood that has a face like you would find on Pee-wee's playhouse years ago. I love them all ❤

It worked on a monochrome 1/2” ribbon but I wanted it to be bichrome!

Do you think that this issue was caused by the progressive hardening of the platen or that the machine was just adjusted for many carbon copies?

Yes, the platen is hard for certain.
