Great video, thank you! I have the S5mk2 and am looking forward to LUMIX releasing LUMIX Lab for this camera as well. I also think a 3rd party manufacturer could make a cold-shoe mounted EVF with its own internal battery that connects to the HDMI port via a short cable. This would fix the viewfinder issue, and would be removable when not needed.

thats interesting regarding the viewfinder. curious if cables would feel too clunky

@@ribsy I can imagine a 90-degree connector going into the HDMI jack, and the cable just long enough to connect the EVF to the camera. Surely there’s gotta be a 3rd party manufacturer working on this … I hope!

Great images. Your reasons for buying the S9 are similar to my thinking when I added a Sony 7c. It's a bit bigger but works with all of my legacy lenses. The characteristics of the old, manual focus glass are part of the fun.

You have some eye! Some gorgeous images and compositions there. Another step toward a process solution with the S9 might be to lean heavier into some kind of zone focusing method. It might not fit perfectly with the type of imagery you currently like to produce. But the upside is that you can remove those crucial awkward extra seconds of fiddling with settings and seeking perfect focus before each shot. And it works particularly well with the "no viewfinder" manual lens mode of interaction with your subjects. Keep taking inspiring shots... you make me want to go straight out and take more photos. ✌

Ahh I love the Canon LTM lenses!! I used to have the 35mm f2 but my top pick is the 50mm f1.4, probably my favourite portrait lens! Would be cool to try it out on the S9, if it had a hot-shoe i'd buy it in a heartbeat to use a little flash with it, shame it doesn't.

The punch in zoom focus assist on my Sigma FPL enlarges the image much more that what you are showing. Can you adjust the settings to enlarge it even further. Also can you customize a button to trigger it? There is a button on the back of my sigma, so that it’s easy to use. I only have to touch the screen to select where I want it to punch in. I think Full Frame is the way to go for photographers, because of how well it utilizes vintage lenses. I love how affordable the S9 is. I am very tempted to buy it as a second body because of its amazing IBIS. I bet you can make it zoom in more making manual focusing with the screen much easier. I shoot with the 7artisans 50mm f1.05 a lot and the focal depth is extremely shallow. Also on my TTartisans 90mm f1.25

I also got the S9 to use with my vintage manual lenses, but I’m still getting used to using the rear screen instead of a viewfinder. I think I’ll get better at it, but right now I’m missing having a viewfinder. Can’t complain about the final images though.

I only have put EF 28-80m film lens from my 500N on an EF digital camera such as my EOS 2000D and I like to shoot that way in B&W sometimes just using the screen to focus & zone focusing. Some people have asked me if they were film but when I tell them its digital they ask me what megapixel camera then when I tell them its 24.1 they are like what no way. In B&W the grain & darks are so confusing to people who take photos they instantly think its a low pixel camera or film. Its a great conversation starter. Love the show Ribsy. I will try get some of my Minolta MD lens onto a canon some day see how that looks. Come over to my channel some day if you have an hour to spare. Thanks man.

Using vintage lenses on mirrorless cameras is such an expensive drug. I started with 1 in 2017... now? Maybe 100 to 200 old lenses and like fifty 50mm lenses give or take. Its such good fun! I prefer MF over AF these days.

So close to being perfect camera. Some combo of this and the nikon zf would be perfect. Bring in the weather sealing and viewfinder of the zf, but luts, ergonomics and video of the s9 and id never buy another digital camera. Its good as is but i cant bring myself to sell my other digital gear for it. Fujis give you that perfect package but in apsc.

Trying to think if my S5 does this or another camera I have, double touching the screen where you want to focus punches in for focussing when using MF glass?! Another thing I do is shoot jpeg plus raw in a b&w profile so the peaking colour is more obvious. Don’t even need to punch in all the time that way.
