Wahoo McDaniel was my favorite wrestler when I first tuned in to Mid-Atlantic as a kid. When Greg Valentine broke his leg it was real to me darnit, and still is! lol

The match was taped at WRAL TV 5 Raleigh NC on a Tuesday night. It was aired on the following Saturday night. 1977 if my memory is good. I watch it as well and hated Valentine for what he did. It was real to me at 12 years old. But I got to go see the return match in Greensboro and it was a Indian strap match. Wahoo and Valentine were so blooded it looked like a horror movie. Those were great days.

Back in the late 70s and early 80s my sister became friends with a girl and her mom... They went to every wrestling match around... The mom became good friends with WaHoo McDaniel.. He helped them alot.. One Christmas he came by their house and gifted the woman and her daughter with fur coats... They always said he was the nicest and caring person with so much on his mind.

Stuck in the hospital Vident Medical in Greenville,NC ,for a week. After a heart catheterization, it came back clear, thank god. But, they never could find out what was wrong so, they called it a silent heart attack. I'm 55 yrs, btw. And you were my favorite wrestler when I was a kid. I wish I could meet you just once. Hearing this vid ..shows why Ric Flair is one of the greatest …he has the gift of the gab added to his wrestling skills. Wahoo Flair matches ..I seen on vid…Wahoo chops Flair 2-1 …for every chop Flair gave he took 2 !!! Ouch. I wonder if Flair ever wrestled …Gene Kiniski or Don Leo Jonathan? Ric starting Kiniski and Jonathan nearing end of long careers. Check out Jonathan / Abdulla Japan match. See how this 320 lb Jonathan goes a 360 flip into the ring over the turnbuckle. Everything had talent skills in yester year…movies wrestling you name it… Ric mentioned Charlie Pride…believer in the Lord ..he died not long ago ..covid. Take your Vit. D3 folks

Sometime around 1980 give or take a couple years Wahoo was a heel. Greensboro NC Wahoo is getting out of a taxi and this tough guy comes up running his mouth to Wahoo. The guy is wanting a piece of Wahoo. Big mistake. Wahoo chops the guy across the face breaking the guys nose and doing permanent damage. It cost Wahoo $30,000 legal fees and fines. It was self defense for Wahoo, but the guy told the judge he was only picking with Wahoo . I guess if the guy is still living he has the scar to remember the day he bit off a lot more than he could chew.

Wahoo played Namath's rookie year, and he complained about Namath's salary because he was a veteran, and he was the star or one of the main stars. He was traded at the end of the '65 season to the Miami Dolphins, and he played his final 3 seasons with the Fins. He didn't play under Shula, who arrived 2 seasons after Wahoo retired.
