Pulsar, I agree WWE isn't strong nowadays, but if you have missed the last 10 years, watch the Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns main event at Wrestlemania 31 (in 2015); I'm an old school wrestling fan from the 80's/90's but that match is one of the best I've seen; of course it helps if you understood everything that transpired leading up to that moment; truly one of the most surprising endings I've ever seen; one of the rare times the WWE writers pulled off an ending that left jaws dropped all across the arena.

For those of us who grew up watching NWA, there will never be another like Flair. While Hogan was having circus matches Flair was stylin' and profilin' and going 60 minutes with top wrestlers in the world. Flair's legacy is not something that can be taken away or discontinued like a cable service. It lives on in the hearts and minds of all true wrestling fans for generations. Fuck WWE for pretending to have an on, off switch for the Nature Boy's career. Never happen.
@leonardoyi3183
@leonardoyi3183 3 жыл бұрын
Flair deserves all the respect in the world for his professional career. But you don't have to disrespect hogan's career when trying to defend ric flair's career. Wrestling is just not about what happens in the ring. A complete wrestler, can not only fight in the ring, a complete wrestler most have charisma, mic skills, work ethic, and a lot more stuff. Hogan was the top wrestler for almost 20 years, and probably half of those years or more, he was in the same company as Ric was, and Ric was never rated better than hogan when they were together. If Ric was so valuable as hogan why Ric could never command a better salary than hogan? why Ric could never sell more than hogan in merchandise or draw more than Hogan? Even thought Ric flair's prime was in the golden era of wrestling, he couldn't generate the same kind of interest Hogan drew.

The WWE was pretty much dying while CM Punk was over, and he was poking holes in the company's practices, the entire time. I'd say that having Batista win the Royal Rumble and putting Daniel Bryan up against he and Triple H was where everything had immediately plummeted off of a cliff. Nothing could've saved the WWE, after that. Even hiring Sting, giving Kane a mask again, and getting Edge back were acts which have merely delayed the inevitable. It's a wasted effort, them doing anything more to save face, imo.

Ric Flair, great wrestler and a brilliant performer without a shadow of a doubt. However, Vince Machon and the WWE did protect him from facing legal action and kept him in the job as long as they did, especially after watching The Dark side of the ring documentary " Plane ride to hell " where Ric Flair got so intoxicated, he exposed himself to an air hostess. Most of the wrestlers on that flight were either fired or were punished in various ways. Ric got a free pass because of who he is. That incident cost the company hundreds of thousands of pounds ( dollars in the US ) so, Ric shouldn't complain about title belts and alimonies.

I love Ric, I hope he finds happiness. However if he sold Hunter a belt and gifted back another that they already owned before him then he’s got no claim to them. Regardless of their motive for keeping them, it doesn’t matter because it’s their property to do with as they wish. Also 50k was very generous at the time and dug him out of a hole. He should remember how much he appreciated that then and move on.

@@RealArtfulDodger WWE saw Ric was desperate, and did to him what they always do to people. I watched the WWE Treasure Hunt series last fall on A&E. They tried to guilt mostly small collectors into donating or selling their memorablia for the smallest possible numbers, claiming it was to start a wrestling museum. They used the young wrestler Top Dolla, who they just released, to make the case for the company, having him plead that he had a small budget and would get in trouble with WWE management if he couldn't get the items. In some cases, wrestlers like Kane wanted to sell the items to WWE with the money going to charity. Even though Kane wanted them to donate to a children's hospital, they still low balled and haggled with him. It was embarrassing to WWE, but revealed a lot about how they operate.

Flair's legacy was already set in stone in the NWA when JCP was still alive and well and before Ted Turner bought them out. He may not have possibly left WCW/NWA if not for Jim Herd (Ric don't know if you've ever answered that or not - If not, can you provide any insight?). Point is, the NWA recognized his greatness and to me even though they are not what they were, should be what matters. WWE/F was all about entertainment while the NWA was about wrestling. Ric Flair is the best entertainer in pro wrestling's history but he was a wrestler first and foremost

Flair isn't the only NWA champion in WWE. They currently have more NWA champions signed to their roster than anywhere else between Aj Styles, R-truth, Adam Pearce, Ricky The Dragon Steamboat, Tatsumi Fujinami, Steve Corino, and Abyss. Flair held both belts when they were at their peak of relevancy and a major part they were at their peak of relevancy at those times was due to Flair.
