But being remembered as the fool who was unalived while wrestling in fake wrestling matches aged 80 odd or whatever is a mugs game. He's be a joke. They don't even have to use The Wrestler as a reference for dying in the ring, Mitsu Misawa did it for real and even wrote a letter two years before he died predicting that he'd die in the ring to whoever gave him that final bump. Difference is he did it while still close to his prime. Been many others but that's arguably closest to going out in the ring while still able to perform at a high level.

Its Flair. If he stayed sober, worked on his fitness, shook off some of the ring rust and planned out what he could still do somewhat safely, he maybe the guy who could pull something off at his age. But if someone is crazy enough to risk his life to give him another match, he'll promise the world then turn up drunk having done nothing to prepare for the match other than exercise his liver.

Flair would have to sign a stack of hold harmless agreements (assumption of a known risk) a half inch thick, removing any and all liability from the promotion, as well as individual HHA with the individuals he was going into the ring with, as well as the owners of the building etc. Would they be binding and hold up in court when his estate sues any and all parties for negligence pertaining to his death, well there is no way of telling. I guarantee that his children will be running to an attorney's office to have actions filed to make a fast buck.

Realistically you could draft an agreement where you protect you and your performers end by requiring certain approvals to perform by doctors and commissions and having him also agree to hold the company and his opponent harmless. An agreement waiving the rights to sue, which is quite common for many activities, would probably be enough on its own but if you required certain clearances from doctors and commissions that would be an extra layer of protection. You'd then be able to argue you relied on the professional opinion and clearances of x y or z to sanction the event AND had a voluntary waiver of liability. The bigger risk is simply the PR and perception that would come from doing it to begin with and then how much worse it would be if the worst truly did happen.
