If you don't know this marvel of the contemporary piano repertoire, this is going to be a big surprise. For me, one of the best piano works of the second half of the 20th century. Russian school, jazz, experimentation, bravura, virtuosity, lyricism, nostalgia. Music in its purest essence with all its emotions.

Apart from Ricardo's wonderful playing, what's so special about this channel is the specific ambience present consistently in all of the recordings. Kind of meditative, but specific at the same time. The hall itself is so great. Often a pianist does a good job on the recording, but the sound doesn't draw you in because it's either too dry or too wet. Anyhow, I'd never think I would enjoy Gubaidullina's sonata !😂
