Ricardo, I so much appreciate your voice on all the products you review. It is surprisingly difficult to find reviews from people who are not the ones selling the product. Your impartiality, expertise and attention to detail are super valuable. Your channel, more generally, is excellent as well. Thank you!

Just bought the new K2 Trio LT100. For long distances these are great skates. For turning in corners it's harder to get used to. My previous skates where also from K2 with four 84mm wheels. What a big difference. With the Trio LT100 it costs me much less energy to get up to speed.

Thanks for the Video Ricardo :D I own the previous Version of the K2 Trios, and i have to tell you there actually is a function for the elastic band on the top of the shoe. I use it to strap down the shoelaces because they are rather long, otherwise they'd be flailing around :)

Longer frames rock, in general! Long ago I came to conclusion that for city skating/urban/freeride you really don't need as shortest frame as possible, be it four our three wheels. Where shortest frame matters is freestyle slalom and slides (to some skill level at least, you know that Pablo Soler is sliding on long speedskating frames like it's nothing). But for crousing around, some jumps, simple slides for braking etc. I'm taking longer frames any day. This has been my "thing" for a long time, I hate 243mm 4x80mm with passion haha. It started when I first got Fusion 84 back when they first released and jump from 243 to 255mm was a revelation! Longer frames bring you more stability, not only for landings, but also for pushing - you can go really low with a strong push, without frame/wheels slipping underneath (especially if your feet are significantly longer than the frame). I held on to Fusion 84 frames for that reason for years, then whole 3 wheeled thing happened and I fell in love with 3x110. My first frame of this type was embossed Supercruiser one, I like the length, the feel the speed, but it wasn't very stiff. Then I've tried Flying Eagle Supersonic frame, a good one but something rubbed me wrong with it, maybe wheel placement, maybe the fact that it also wasn't as rigid as I've hoped. Ultimately I skated first version of Pleasure Tool frames (243mm one) the longest, it was a piece of art, the material and stiffness were just amazing. Liked it, but wished that it would be longer. When Next came out and I got them, I used them with 243mm frames taken off Kaze, but then I though that I can just get 3x125 frame and thrown in 3x110 setup. The height was never an issue for me, not with a hardboot and with Trinity the difference is negligible anyway. So I'm rocking Next with 3x110 in 255mm frame now and absolutely loving it. The skate is fast, agile, it's easy to build up and keep speed. As for four wheeled setups, after giving away or selling most of the skates I haven't been using (because I was skating Next 99% of the time) I've still kept my old Imperials simply because their shell was just to beaten and customised to even give away. They were gathering dust with a spare 243mm frames I had (sold Pleasure Tool frames as there was no point in keeping two 3x110 setups) and I think I've skated them once, quickly got bored and went back to Next. This week I've snatched a pair of 255mm frames taken off from large size Twister Edges, they take 80mm max. Will go on my old Imperials, hoping to wear "natural rocker" on them and have some fun. Longer is better! ;) Velcros instead of buckles - I'm one of those weirdos who prefer velcro straps to buckles. I'll send you a picture of my skates later, you'll see what I mean. Good review and the skates look okay. Never was a fan of K2, but I kind of like Soulslide 2 style boot template and having a lightweight, softboot skate to chill on is nice, I think. May give them a chance someday, who knows?

I haven’t skated in 20 years and I’m starting to pick it up again. Thing is when I purchased k2 skates (Trio LT) I didn’t realize they only had 3 wheels 😂😂😅😅 WELP. I'm pretty sure they're a 90A. My K2 Trio 110's are 90A - which is a bit too hard for the street. The wheels actually look entirely the same, except instead of a rounded edge, they come to a point (maybe where the extra 5 mm of radius comes from. Personally, I like the skates, but I don't love them. They're great for fitness and just cruising around on bike trails and the beach walks, but once you get into a speed stride you can feel the lost power. It's not a big deal for recreational skates. I live in southern California so the additional airflow of a soft boot is welcomed. I'm already looking for skates where I can transfer my power a bit better, and they'll probably be higher end slalom or freestyle. I don't think I'll get rid of the K2's as they're a great skate to "chill" in. Very comfortable to be around in all day - but when you want to go all out they won't quite cut it. Upgrade the wheels and they'll pretty much be perfect for their intended use.

I had the K2 Trio 110 a year ago. It’s quite similar from the outside except that it comes with a standard frame. Anyway, half a year into skating with these skates, I had indeed a major issue with the axle of one back wheel. It had bent out of shape, just a tiny tiny bit, but so much that we had to destroy it in order to get the wheel out. I bought new axles for quite some money, then bought new skates and gave the Trio to my sister. Huge disappointment. I really do hope the axles of the VO2-S are better than they appear ...

Thanks for the video. I'm wondering if I may have gotten a defective pair of these. I am going from a cheap pair of four-wheel Rollerblades to these and am finding they are painful, because the boot keeps wedging into my leg, and the left skate seems to want to drift outward all the time. I used to skate the K2 Midtown, one of their first "Lifestyle" skates, and it was a really nice skate, actually. But the newer stuff like the Broadway, the Sodo, and this skate, the Trio... I just don't have the same confidence in those boots. The Midtown had an aggressive style cuff and a flat soul plate, but they seem to be moving away from those elements in their newer Lifestyle skates...

@@brocmt this boot and the Sodo are based on template of K2 Soulslide 2 (sometimes called Soulslide UFS). It was a very good boot in its time (early 2000), designed for freeskating. It was actually a very good and highly regarded skate, although not as popular as Salomon FSK or Rollerblade Twister II. Of course, much depends on materials, but for urban skating I wouldn't really worry about the boot. Imo it's a skate designed for folks who do not practice hardcore freeskating, but like cruising in the city, do some jumps, ride down the stairs etc. I can see appeal of having a lightweight, comfortable boot for that type of skating. Not a fan of softboots myself, but a lot of their bad reputation comes from shitty generic rec skates...
