I've been trying that method with the lye and it's working for me! Just need my cocoa nibs to be really small, otherwise it does not melt. In SA we get chunks.

Usually with melt and pour you spray the layers. I make cold process. You do not need to spray the layers :)

Hi do you mix the complete batch with lye and the divide it. How does each layer set so quickly before you do the next layer. Many thanks

If you notice in the video. I do not over mix in the beginning. And I do not add the fragrance oil all at once. I add the colors and fragrance per layer and mix it. If I added the fragrance all at once more than likely it would thicken the entire batch. Hope that makes sense :)

For some reason every time I try the heat transfer method, my soap over heats terribly and cracks..can’t figure out why. It would be so much more timely if I could get it to wrk..🤨

Do you use any milks? How much coconut oil do you use?

@@OpheliasSoapery 35% coconut oil, 45 % olive oil, 10% castor oil, 10% cocoa butter, milk’s occasional, not often…also normally do a 28% water discount. Should I use more water maybe? Thank you for your help…I’ve been making soap for years and I’ve tried this method several times and it always heats up and cracks..especially if I cover it..😢 Thank You

It’s probably that amount of coconut oil. I would cut it down to 20-25% and add the rest between the olive and cocoa butter.

@@OpheliasSoapery Thank you so much Julie..I ran it thru the calculator and took the coconut oil to 25% but I must admit I’m a little afraid it will be too soft because the hardness level showed only 37%. Shouldn’t it be at least at 40% to get a good hard bar? I split the difference between the olive and cocoa butter. I can try a test batch but I am afraid the hardness level is too low. 🤦‍♀️

My recipe is only 37% hardness 😬 As long as you cover and gel them they should be just fine.
