So this is the Civil War version of Ranger Pudding. Amazing what soldiers do to make their life a little more tolerable.

We also found that adding a couple slices of onion while the rice was boiling was a nice addition since we didn't have lemon.

I'm taking these recipes and giving them to my Scout Troop cause we need more food recipes that don't require a lot of food.

We’re glad they can help Scouts! Do you tell them the recipes are Historic or is it just good, solid recipes for them to make? Will
@wesleycantrell3325 жыл бұрын
@@CivilWarDigitalDigest I tell them they are historic, which gives me opportunities to tell them about both the Confederate and Federal camp lives; and other information about the Civil War that I have learned from watching your videos and what I've learned from my trip to Gettysburg during the 155 anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg.

*LIKED* the video - but in the field I'm going to just take a swag measuring the ingredients. See you on the field, at the range, or around the camp fire pards. --- *LT 1st Minn Sharpshooters*

Appreciate all the extra effort you take to make the background setting and "props" authentic - this really adds to the video. This is my goal for my video's as well -- emerging the story in the 1860's.

Good job Will. About how many men/pards will that recipe serve??

As a meal alone, I’d say 2-4. Served with a meat like boiled pork, maybe 8. Just working off the pre-cooked weight of 1 lb of rice. Will
