Күн бұрын

In this tractor video we are focusing on some harvester repairing. Our Claas Lexion harvest combine will get washed and cleaned before we take off the feeder house and change some internal wear-parts.
Equipment repairs, aside from field prep, are our main focus on the farm during winter. In this episode I focus on repairing our Claas Lexion 585R.
In previous episodes of Rice Farming TV I covered how we prepare our rice fields for winter:

Matt! I enjoy your videos for many reasons, one rice farming, two the challenges you face farming I California, and the most important is you love what you do and want to promote ag in a good light! That being said, you don’t need to borrow lines from someone who isn’t solely promoting ag challenges anymore. You’ve got the red beard and dark shades!!! Keep up the great work amigo!

Harvesting rice is not easy but cleaning machinery is not so simpler. when it comes to cleaning the harvesters it's a dirty job that's for sure an itchy one. After our 2019 rice harvest I had to clean up all the equipment from the harvest. I was put in charge of cleaning the equipment. Starting with the harvesters it takes a long time to clean one just because of how much chaff the harvester collects. But anyways after a few days of cleaning and servicing the equipment they are preped and ready to work on the fields for 2020. Hope for the best for you in the upcoming crops for 2020 Matthew.

how come you dont just chop the chaff, then it would be easier to work into the soil afterwords?
@Ricefarmingtv
@Ricefarmingtv 4 жыл бұрын
You mean chop the chaff as it’s coming out the combine-rather than straw spreaders? We do mow/chop the straw with a tractor/mower after harvest, before tillage. -Matthew
@TheComander1234
@TheComander1234 4 жыл бұрын
@@Ricefarmingtv Thats what i meant. But is it not waste of time and effort to go one more time, rather than just letting the combine do the work. The fewer time you have to go out with a tractor the better, right? But is it because the combine dont chop it as nice, cant handle the amount of straw or the type of straw that the rice has?

Why do you need 3 combines for only 1200 acres where I live we do 3000 acres of corn and soybeans with one combine
@Ricefarmingtv
@Ricefarmingtv 4 жыл бұрын
Good question, Colt. Well, we could do it with one. Some farmers do. We could definitely do it with two. For most of the harvest this year we actually only ran two and had the John Deere as a back up. This year we had such a tight harvest window and we were worried about falls rains cutting our time short. The quicker we can get the crop out of the field the better. Comparing corn and soybeans with rice isn't quite fair. The rice plant is tough, and threshing is slower. Our headers need to be smaller and our ground speed slower. -Matthew

@@stevecunningham2759 you should come hand to mouth with me in hurricane alley. My 3 year corn average is 24 bu. 2 hurricanes 3 tropical storms, 2 droughts and 2 wet ass springs. MFP can't solve mother nature. The joke is, they're making a little money. As to feeder house chains and rasp bars. Done that on 9500 for she burned. 3300 and 4400 ears before that. Fun balancing bars on the old girls. We ate a chain once. Lucky me the machines were less powerful then and would just lock up. The new sts stuff we got now would probably eat the chain and crap it out the chopper. So yea. Kinda aware RM is the bee's knees. So are sheds. And operators that put fires out. And tax accountants for work for the IRS. And county FSA employees out to get you paid and not the other way around. But county FSA culture is another discussion for another day.
