As an Eagles fan I was concerned about Washington. If JD works out that's trouble for the NFC East. I hate the fact y'all have great weapons like Ekeler and Mclaurin. Zach Ertz always knows how to find the soft spot in the defense. The Division is anyone's this year.

This is my first time commenting on this show. Love listening to all you guys talk. I was thrilled with the Washington Commanders last night. Because I often feel sympathy for teams that have droughts of any kind. And I think they made arguably, the biggest statement in the NFL this week. You could make the case that the Carolina Panthers also did that, but my money is on the Commanders. I'm a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, but the way the Washington Commanders took care of business against a team that's been to 2 AFC Championships and a Super Bowl with Joe Burrow. I honestly think the Commanders made the biggest statement.

*Stats To Digest: Rookie QB's who started more than 3 years in college have more playing time and have more experience advantage coming into the NFL* 1) Michael Penix Jr. - 6 years in college ---- started 48 games 2) Jayden Daniels - 5 years in college ---- started 55 games 3) Bo Nix - 5 years in college ---- started 48 games 4) Spencer Rattler - 5 years in college ----- started 48 games 5) Caleb Williams - 3 years in college ----- started 37 games 6) Drake Maye - 3 years in college ----- started 30 games *Michael Penix Jr, Jayden Daniels, Bo Nix and Spencer Rattler are all college veterans, they should come into the NFL and adapt much quicker.*

This was exact point I was trying to make with everyone. Nix, Penix and Daniels have a lot of throwing experience. They've seen a lot. That's on top of them having great arm talent and all three being above average to exceptional athletes. All three excelled in high-end offenses at power 5 schools (talent). Therefore they will get up to speed quicker and be more likely to succeed. I was making the exact same argument. Mitchell Trubisky and Justin Fields had very little throwing experience. Patrick Mahomes had a lot of throwing experience. It matters more often than it doesn't.

"[Caleb] Williams is a fabulous playmaker, and there are 'wow' throws all over his tape, even going back to his freshman season . . . He's incredible escaping the pocket and making off-platform throws, excelling when plays break down. His improvisational skills are off the charts -- it's incredible how he can make the first defender miss and create first downs out of thin air. He has great field vision and throws dimes to receivers while under duress. He's incredibly creative, which is not something we can usually say . . . ." Mel Kiper, Jr., January 2024.

Why does everything have to be a comparison? JD played great, had great protection up front (hardly got pressured), and had great play calling complimented by a nice run game. Not to mention that every QB develops differently during their rookie season… Remember when Josh Allen was immediately a top 3 QB when he was drafted, because I don’t.
@ThePsho
@ThePsho 51 минут бұрын
Good on ya, giving some props to Kiper. There's usually way too much hate on a guy that's trying to predict the future of college players, and who's roughly on par with the NFL GMs that get paid to make these decisions in a non-entertainment context.

The last time I was this excited for a Rookie QB in Washington was with RG3, and we all know that story all too well. RG3 ended up broken from having to carry his team on his legs and got hurt, then badly coached. So, I see the difference in Coach and Team, JD has the talent around him. Yes, we need to still build the Defense. But, WE HAVE OUR QB1 BABY!! HTTC!!
@sy12
@sy12 Сағат бұрын
He’s not brittle tho. That’s the big difference. Even a regular tackle would have a big effect on rg3 and have him limping. And that slide last night looked slick! The defense definitely needs to be rebuilt but I think the quickest fix for now would be a trade for Hassan reddick. Trading both ends and keeping two high paid tackles was a big mistake. I can’t believe how ineffective Allen and Payne are so far.

Of all the things JD did out there, the two dimes to Scary Terry, the latter being the scariest was bananas. The defender was coming at him unabated and the rest is history. But what he did at one point in the fourth quarter, motioning for the play to come in quicker. Meant he had total command of the offense and was ready to go. That was the most hurried he had been all game. The skill set is there but you want to see the ability to grasp the plays, command the team and understand the moment. He checked all of those boxes and that more than anything is the best part of his night and his teammates fed off of it.

But the truth was whose QB curse was stronger. Washington has not had a multi-year super star at QB picked in the first round since Baugh but did trade for a HOFer , a trade for a SB winner and a few mid-rounders who had a few decent years. I think i figured out the difference between Jayden and Lamar...Jayden can actually see downfield because he doesn't wear his hair down over his eyes like Lamar does....

Daniels can pass. Lamar is still trying to figure that out.

It helps that my Bengals have the worst secondary in the league and I was pissed we didn't draft a CB in the first 2 rounds.

@@johnwickonspeed7701that is pointless, one good game does not make a season. I watched this team every single week and this secondary gives me headaches.

The way daniels is playing with Washington has nothing to do with caleb williams and how the bears look. Washington has a waaay better coaching staff and front line. The bears doesnt have buyer remorse because if you switch players it will be the same situation. And be careful bragging this early. We need daniels in the league for a long time. He is gonna be great.

@chrisbrooks4885 huh?... excuse? How? It's true. Look at the bears coaching and the bears offensive line. They are horrendous. If daniels played for the bears he would look worse then caleb. Daniels had forever to throw in the pocket...... my point is, just because daniels starting off hot, doesn't mean the caleb is bad. It's only 3 games. And you calling it an excuse? I hope daniels stay hot the way some of you Washington fans are acting. Lol.

Way better front line? Who was saying that 3 weeks ago? Everybody was saying Caleb was walking into the best situation in history for a #1 pick qb. I agree with everything else you said. Way too early to determine anything. But I think clearly after 3 weeks Jayden is doing more with less. Bears are 0-3 if they don’t block a punt and have a pick six in a second half.

@sy12 nobody and I mean nobody said caleb had a better line. You have to understand how football works. Yes the bears have more skill positions.... the problem is the o line. None of those skill guys can show what they have because caleb doesn't have time to get them the ball becuase the line collaspe. Not to mention the horrible coaching.. look how much time daniels had in the pocket. And most of his throws were check downs.... daniels is not doing more. the team is just winning more. If you think that falls solely on the qb then there's no point in a further discussion.

Caleb looks like a mess a lot of the time. He tries to make up for it with hero plays. I don't like what I see most of the time I see him. Daniels has looked good every time I've seen him and he's just a rookie.

Vikings. Haven't played with their food, no messing around, beat two playoff teams from last year: the NFC Champions and one of the top 4 AFC Teams from last year. And beat them convincingly. No slow starts, nothing. But the Bills have looked good so far.

@jakelundy9614 this the year no one was talking about the bills because they let so many defensive players go, lost Milano In pre season, lost Diggs so who do they have to throw the ball to, a lot of people didn’t think they’d make the playoffs this year, so yea they’ve definitely overachieved for what people expected them to do so far
