@@crankybastid2197 You and OP are spot on! This tracks back to Parcells and Cleveland. The Belichick tree looks bad because the younger coaches emulate the success but not the history. Parcells and Belichick were in New England from 94 to 98 (or something like that) and went to a Super Bowl. When Belichick came back, he brought many players who were with him on the Jets. A lot of players were already familiar with that harsh style.

Flores really handled that like a mature person who has the self awareness that he f-ed up in Miami. He didn't resort to coach-speak but instead took some responsibility for his part in their professional relationship not working. In an era where (some) men think it's strength to never admit fault, it's refreshing when someone acknowledges they need to improve.

he didn't admit fault, he didn't apologize. he said "do i feel like that's me? no." he talked about having "great relationships." didn't deny what he did cause there are texts. multiple people including media talked about their interactions with him, not in a positive light. there are those who have or had good relationships with him which is natural. his pitfalls is/are/was treating those he didn't have a good relationship with poorly. you can not vibe with people but treat them respectfully. from everything that was said years ago to the recent stuff now, doesn't seem like he did.

@@indade The truth is always somewhere in between. If you're buying everything Tua is saying then that's on you. I can look at it both ways as well. QBs getting paid millions and millions being cry babies and wanting to be coddled and not being reprimanded. Being butt hurt when they're being told to their faces what their performance was something he couldn't accept as well. Him actually throwing the coach under the bus shows me a glimpse of what a "rat" he is. Meanwhile Flores never told anyone live on air how shitty Tua performed under him or threw him under the bus when he had many times do it. That's another view one could take. The reality is it's really somewhere in between specially when you consider how many millions of dollars these QBs make compared to their coaches.

@@pkpnyt4711 It has been said that Tua is too honest. Darlington has even said there are texts. Big O mentioned months before that in that building it felt hostile. Albert Wilson talked about how militant it was. Trill Williams mentioned Flores and Tua’s interactions. X had problems with Flores. Omar Kelly talked about Flores condescension towards him. Why is it that people struggle to understand the difference between “tough love” and being an a**hole? Just because people allowed themselves to be exploited and denigrated for years, doesn’t mean that people nowadays who object and stand up for themselves are “soft”. What’s soft is allowing yourself to be abused because “old school” people think it’s the only way to get tougher. To be better. Those people need therapy.

I'm a Dolphins fan but I'm not really a fan of either guy so I don't have a horse in the race as such. I feel like one comment has blown this up Tua shouldn't have said "terrible person" he should have said "terrible coach" however poorly he treated him in the coaching scenario he can't say who Flores is as a man. It seems to have been a personality clash that just got out of hand but that's why it's bad coaching because while for me personally the idea of someone telling me over and over how wonderful I am at my job makes my skin crawl some people seem to need that and since managing personalities is part of a coaches job if Flores can't do that himself surely somebody on his staff could have dealt with Tua in a more encouraging manner. I dunno obviously Flores in the wrong but the fact that Tua is still bothered by it years later concerns me as a fan.
@kyletucker3811
@kyletucker3811 21 күн бұрын
First, full disclosure, Chargers fan. I'm used to getting into trash talk with Dolphins fans and playing down Tua as a player. But I've always maintained that he's the most likeable QB outside of Herbert from the outside looking in. This is the first thing I've seen that really made me reconsider. Now that we got that out of the way, Here's exactly why the terrible person comment bothered ME . The reason it bugs me is it's a sign of a surprising lack of maturity. The simple fact is, sometimes in a professional setting and even in personal ones, people can be assholes to us. We might even in the heat of the moment view it as malicious. But being mature, is having the ability to take a step back and realize it's not all about you. Sometimes it's as simple as the coach was inexperienced and bad at his job and didn't know how to properly motivate you. He expected you to react how his former QB reacted and when you didn't, he didn't handle it the best. That is on him, but it doesn't mean it was malicious. And to take something that from all descriptions seems to have been done from a coaching perspective, and make it personal, to not have that maturity which I think all people should have by their mid 20s to put yourself in someone else's shoes, be bitter about it and hold on to it, and then when you're in a high point in your career only then speak out about it, it makes me look at them a little different. Like damn, you're kinda immature. I don't know, maybe that's just me. Might be the fact that I had some things happen in my personal life when I was younger that meant I had to come to terms with the fact that when someone mistreats me, sometimes there's a reason for it even if it's not okay, and if I wanted to move forward I needed to let it go because it did nothing for me to hold onto that. I realized that by the age of 21 so maybe I expect others to do the same and that's unreasonable. And I guess it's really the timing for me. Had this happened right after Flores was fired, like right before the first season with McDaniel or even before last season, I'd probably feel different.

I personally think there was more going on in Miami then just Tua and Brian. Ross' treatment of Flores, Ross speaking to Brady. How would anyone feel that takes over a position of authority in any business and be treated with disrespect. The rumours of Ross wanting Flores to lose games for draft picks. What else did Ross have his hand in all of that. Tua is a young guy with loads of talent, but needs daily confirmation. Flores is the kind of guy that needs thick skinned players. Half the league has tough coaches and half the league has caregivers. I have loved the Dolphins since 1971, I want them to win badly, but I understand that sometimes the big picture is going to make sense. Unless all the parties are in the same room discussing the same issues, no one really knows what was going down. I personally like Flores, but someone made him pick somebody he didn't want to coach, and he .are some mistakes on how to coach someone like Tua. The whole Stafford/Goff situation reminds me of timing and coaching need to align.

Correct, the Dolphins can't beat a team with a winning record. As a follow up in that connection, the Dolphins can't dominate the line of scrimmage on either side of the ball; they beat equally poor defensive teams who succumb in the early part of the game to the bells and whistles of the offense. But teams with solid defenses who shut it down beat them because the Dolphins have little substance in the trenches and they are not a come-back type of team.

If I recall, he also was hugely supportive of Colin Kaepernick. I wish somebody would ask him (Wyche) about what Tua had to say about Flores. The guy was hired ahead of multiple white candidates. Had been supported previously by the Pats org and Bill Belichick. Then, when fired after getting paid millions after his team underperformed, throws EVERYONE who trusted him/gave him opportunities under the bus. Why would any owner hire him? Can't have a conversation with him, can't make a joke. Guy's gonna record it, or take notes. Can't trust him. Comments, Steve Wyche? Racism. After being hired ahead of multiple white candidates.
