The simple truth is the Super Bowl wins on that list will remain low. Most QB's won't win a SB. That's just the way it is. But the NFL makes more and more $ w/ every passing year and new TV deals so it's only fair the players get bigger and bigger contracts. If those QB's put butts in seats then the money is well spent by the teams.
@natureredux1957

Well Butts in the SEAT really won't be factor since that really won't change that much even if a team doesn't make the playoffs. But spending the money more wisely as opposed to just overpaying BAD QBs can be far more of a benefit to the TEAM and their FANS. So it FAIR only if more players share in the growing Pool of money as opposed to just the Select, overrated FEW. Eventually this out of Control Spending will Bankrupt everything. Then what.

I hate, just hate, the "combined playoff win/loss record." The win/loss record for all playoff QBs in a single playoff season is .500 (has to be). If you take playoff teams, say 16 of them in a standard single elimination bracket, eight of them end 0-1, four end 1-1, two end 2-1, one ends 3-1, one ends 4-0. Only four of the 16 will have a winning playoff record! It's the format!

Tua and Love share an agent. By the way, Love's new 4 year deal is more like a 5 year deal. He's still under contract from that 1-year contract he chose to sign last year, so it's more like a 5/$237M extension. Closer to $48M per year, but people will focus more on the 4-year. That being said, Love will prove the Packers right for giving him the extension. He's the guy. Also, revisionist history is going on here. The Packers also paid Aaron Rodgers after a single season, they took the risk because they saw something in Rodgers and chose to extend him. Packers are doing it again, taking the risk and they see something in Jordan Love. If there was one organization I would trust with QB evaluation, it's the Packers.

It just needs to move to percentage of salary cap so we don't have to endure this ever season. If the teams could legally (by league rules) give players extra incentives or just plain extra bags of cash on the side, they would. It's not that the don't think the player is worth it (in most cases), it's that there is a salary cap that every dollar given to a QB is a dollar less that can be used to improve the entire team. If you let teams pay the QB whatever they want, but have to pay a QB luxury tax, they would GLADLY do that.

I think the issue is not how much money the QBs are getting, the main issue is how much chunk it takes out of the salary cap and causes teams to let go of good players and disband good teams before they can eventually win a SB. @@lamarbennett436 it’s $9M this year, he had $14M taken off of his original 5th year option, $23M guaranteed salary price, and converted it to a bonus to give the team $14M to go with the $9M they had in space already. Meaning, they now have $23M to get Tyreek or, Holland or, Phillips, maybe all 3 if they can get the money right to swing them all, since two of them ended up unable to play last year to close the season out. That’s harsh business but they just did that same thing to the most expensive player in the franchises history, so I don’t think it’s a stretch to think they might take that shot anyways, if it might save them from top of the market with players at other positions who have talent but haven’t had production yet in their careers so far, but could be in a good position their break out seasons, and both had injuries sideline them for the end of the season. So then they might start playing a game or two, start to feel it, and end up accepting a deal like that, just because it’s more protection than they have today, even though it’s not top of the market. If not, then he will get his deal reworked, free up some cap space for the team for that following league year, and get himself a nice fat bag of money added to what he was already going to get. That’s where people mess up this situation. Mahomes is only below other guys on the list because they got signed to their deals after he last reworked his own deal. Once he and/or the team feel like they need to do some work to his deal again, then he will immediately be bumped right back up to the top in AAV. It’s not like his gets reworked after every new deal gets done. It could be a year or two between reworks for him. But each time his comes up, he immediately jumps to the head of the pack, without question. Same goes for Josh Allen, and I would say Burrow as well if his wrist ends up being alright. As well as Lamar. I know the Ravens did that whole kerfuffle deal when he was up last time, but that was just a big show to let Lamar know that he was going to have to play the game their way, to some degree, if he would like to actually play the game of football.

Let’s not forget that Trent Dilfer has a Super Bowl win as a starting QB. Sure the goal of every team is to win a Super Bowl. However, judging a QB strictly on Super Bowl appearances or wins, is not applicable in my opinion. Dan Marino only had one Super Bowl appearance and NO Super Bowl wins and would it not be reasonable that he would get paid in the way QB’s are getting paid now? Your argument Rich, is completely unfounded

3:11 Imagine how bad the record would be without Burrow, Hurts, and Goff on there. They have at least delivered a SB game each. You could do the same with highest of each position player, and unless the player plays for the Chiefs, they likely don’t have a SB win either, since salaries go up each year.

When I see these salaries, I think about the recent poll that 39% of Americans worry they can't pay their bills each month. 39% Something is wrong with a culture where you have that kind of value placed on a game while nearly half of country is broke.. You have to do serious mental gymnastics to make that make sense.

You can’t use Super Bowl appearances as metric for paying the most important player on every nfl team. By that logic most every contract since 2000 has been terrible because abrady and Mahomes are the only ones with winning history and SB appearances like that. Are teams supposed to just tell possible future super star QBs “sorry we won’t pay you what you’re wo because Mahomes keeps getting in for the AFC? If everyone really wants to stop the crazy money for QBs then the league needs to either just set a scale for that position in particular or remove it from the cap hit and then no one has to worry about the cost.
