Rich by FAR the best bodybuilder that day. Way ahead of his time in terms of lower body development and conditioning. Both thing traslate extremelly well in the back poses as well

Gary Strydom's wig should have won it that year, it was in fabulous condition.
It's all about size and quantity. The bigger the better. Pump it up to the limits. That's all what matters in life. This is the sole purpose you are living for. There is no other purpose. People have searched for it, but didn't find it. Size and quantity is king. All hail to the king. It shows us the wonders of life, and makes everyone happy. Suddenly there is no third world anymore. No hunger, no wars, no disasters, all thanks to size and quantity. The best choice in life.

He had a weak BACK. And nobody wins big without a decent back. If he had a back like Dorian and Haney he would have cleaned the floor with everyone. Because he had everything else.

Awesome ! Richie was really into the vacuum this year . Bodybuilding needs that now as a mandatory more than ever before .

That was awesome! When I first saw Gaspari in a GNC commercial I thought he was a monster and wanted to get big.

That posing is DOPE! The way he does it is just amazing. From one move, to the other by easing into it without unnecessary moves. Awesome!

From the way Arnold talks it looks like the decision for the winner was made before the show even started...by him!

I love Samir Banout's *'physique'* Although Rich completely destroyed the competition with his hard work, dedication and all of the research/reading he's committed himself to. He definitely wasn't no illiterate bodybuilder. He knew how to quantify his food consumption, and knew when to either stop or continue the water/sodium intake in order to peak for the show and bring the best *"Rich Gaspari"* he could bring to the table... Much respect to him.

Rich gaspari should have won the olympia in 89. he was in better shape than everyone that year. haney was given the olympia for at least three years in my humble opinion :)
@deangarratt496511 ай бұрын
He was holding a little water during prejudging and that hurt him. Labrada was in the best condition of all in ‘89 … along with Benaziza.

I`m a great fan of Rich but you can see him going down the ladder already at this show even if he won. It was not the Gaspari of 86 to 88 anymore.

Agreed. He wasn’t the same after the pec tear. His body just didn’t seem to respond the way it had in the years 1985-1988 when he looked full and ripped.

Dexter Jackson is 5'6 and a former Mr olympia winner and consistently is top 5 in consecutive Mr Olympias. Franco Columbo was 5'5 won Mr Olympia twice and came second to Arnold Swarzenegger too (very close second and arnold is 6'2) in 1980 Mr Olympia. You can research these guys, there are many other Mr olympia contenders that are around the 5'7 mark. Branch warren is 5'7 and has won the arnold classic twice as well as regular top 5 in the olympia.

So do I need to weigh like 250 + lbs. to compete with those type of guys, or can I win Mr. Olympia at 5'7'' weighing in at 180lbs. all muscle..?
@QualityTubes12 жыл бұрын
Would you happen to know off hand what someone at 5'7'' would have to weigh to make it as Mr. Olympia.. You have anyone I can follow and learn from to get to that level. with my height and weight... my will power and determination is strong, but I need the results to show physically as well.

***** Yeah I remember growing up, Rich looked huge in the magazines etc. I prefer the look of the 90's bodybuilders, and sadly a lot of them are/have suffered major health problems recently so I can only imagine the health problems today's bodybuilders will face in their later years.

5'7 210-220 contest weight as a pro. Not 5'9, Robby is 5;8 and Rich wasn't taller then him in the lineup
@jonjoe1386 жыл бұрын
Joel Sexton lol damn that means that Samir Banout is like 5'5 instead of the 5'7 he claims... I'm a legit 5'7, with shoes 5'8 I don't go around saying 5'8 although times when I've measured myself with people, people will tell me I'm 5'8, I guess they include that 1 inch sneakers give you, which I never include. That means Shawn Ray is like 5'5... Kevin Levrone's definitely 5'8 , not 5'11 as they claim. Wrestlers bill fake heights too.
@SWIFTzTrigger12 жыл бұрын
phil heath 5'9, Jay cutler 5'8. Franco Columbo 5'5, all have been Mr Olympia numerous times. Ofcourse you can be Mr Olympia at 5'7.
