Amazing video, in my opinion if a driver has a rich dad but is extremely talented like Chase Elliott, Joey Logano, and Jeff Burton they don’t deserve to be labeled as “Silver Spoon”, the only drivers that deserve that label are drivers that suck but still have great rides.

Paul Menard is proof that even if you didn’t earn your way there, people will treat you with some respect if you stay out of the way. Paul wasn’t ruining equipment or driving over his head. He never had his own reality show and he didn’t spin people out. He seemed to understand the situation and his place in the racing world. Austin Dillon seems to think that he’s equally talented as Larson. He doesn’t accept that he hasn’t really earned anything. Logano is a weird case because he is talented, just maybe not as much as he thinks. A lot of the hate for him isn’t because he’s rich, it’s just that too many of his wins are a result of a late race caution, and then him driving overly aggressive. Even his championship was a result of a garbage playoff system and him using more aggression than talent. I never liked Jeff Burton at all, but he definitely raced respectfully. Ward was cool though.

I don't know if I would include Chase in this. Yes, his dad was a Cup champion, but Chase had no sponsors or a ride until January of 2014, just one month before Daytona. NAPA had just dropped Truex over Spingate, and used the Georgia connection to sign. Bill stated in many interviews that his funding could only carry Chase so far, but James Finch saw Chase race and told HMS that they needed to sign him.

No incorrect Chase Elliott ran the lower series with Napa for quite a while so it was inevitable and he also had other sponsors and he worked hard to get two cup level in his earned his keep

The thing is,most people don’t talk about the Sadlers or Menard negatively because they always raced with respect and we’re humble people.The Dillons(mainly Austin) are not humble and don’t race with respect. Unfortunately these days, it's almost a universal given that you have to have money to get into racing in any of the top series. Not just NASCAR, but that applies to all sanctioned series worldwide. It used to be that either your family had a rod shop or a dealership that would push their kids through the local tracks if you were super lucky, otherwise you'd start in carts and prove your mettle; maybe if you had talent and incredible luck, you'd get picked up by a team for a junior series and work your way up, otherwise you'd be a weekend racer for life wondering what could have been as you work your ass off between weekends trying to pay for gas and tires. Anymore, you or your family just writes and check and in you go, provided you can also bank enough for a license. The days of having talent and a dream are all but over for the everyman with twang in his voice and gas in his veins.

Haillie deegan is a perfect example of this, her dad is known for his career in fmx, supercross along with his brief stint in rally cross but all he’s really helped with is sponsorships with brands he’s already with, her driving speaks for itself though. She’s definitely going farther than Danica that’s for sure

Speaking of this , I went to school from kindergarten through senior year with Jon wood of the famed Wood Brothers racing team. He always had the best toys and the nicest clothes ,but hes now and always beena really nice fella. When we graduated and went off into the world, I went to the Air Force and Jon went intl NASCAR truck series . How I found that out is by playing NASCAR 2002' on PlayStation 2 , and what do you know, there is Jon wood right there in the selection menu. Lol I used to put in him in the wall 😅😅

The only issue is what do you consider rich and what do you consider poor? Jeff Gordon grew up in upper-middle-class family that had the money to move across the country solely for the sake of his career. It's hard to use the so-called "poor drivers" as an example of Rags to Riches when he was born into a family that were driving Corvettes and living in gated communities. Eric Jones's father famously sold his 67 Corvette to help further Eric's career. Just blue collar guys cuz you know every person living in the hood has a 67 Corvette. Jimmie Johnson's parents yazz mom may have been a school bus driver put his dad made good enough money to buy him dirt bikes and four wheelers and stuff to get his start once again you know all the poor people I know got enough money to go buy dirt bikes and stuff. If you don't know your dad your Mom dances for a living and your house has wheels you're never going to be a famous race car driver truth hurts

I hate this stigma that you had to have these hard, gritty, "blood sweat and tears" lives in order to earn respect. And if you don't, you're just a "Silver Spoon" driver. (Although there are many sub-par drivers in the cup series.) Let's be honest, there's 3 things you need as a driver in NASCAR. Skill, sponsors, and connections. This isn't the 1950s anymore. Nascar needs a spec series. It should be modeled after other sports franchises where the crew and drivers are drafted in with a salary cap and the teams are geographically based. If they can keep the cost under 15 million per year, there are more than enough cities that could field a team. Plus with sponsorship dollars for car designs, there are enough businesses in just about every market that could sponsor a car for a season for what they pay for a high visibility ad campaign. Also, driver talent needs a low cost farm like iracing to find talent that can be developed in the real world. Imagine a driver winning the Daytona 500 who started out as an iracing driver who didn't have the financial backing that even the "poor" teams have in nascar today.

I find it funny how Ross Chastain is never mentioned in the “daddy’s money” group. His family is very wealthy, which is why they are able to let him race instead of farm. Only reason people don’t realize this is because he was in bad equipment for so long and had to fight his way to the top of the Cup series.

Agree with Pretty much Every you said but your a little Wrong about Truex. Yes his Dad Raced in the Nascar Busch North series in the 90’s but he only won One race. Truex spent a couple of year in bad Equipment in the Busch Series until he Got Discovered By Dale jr to drive for Chance2Racing and Truex won 2 Xfinity Championships. Martin Never would’ve been sponsored by Bass Pro Shops if he hadn’t been Discovered By Dale Jr. Because he was out there driving in Not that Great of Equipment. Sorry just My Opinion.

Everyone has their opinions on what happened to Nascar , what should be done and why there's no hope for Nascar. What happened that took the racing outa Nascar and replaced it with whatever it is that you wanna call now was. GREED. GREED . GREED . GREED People like Bruton Smith that had the money and wanted to make way way more money to everyone that turned what was about a bunch of real racecar drivers that woulda been glad to crank up at Darlington just to kiss the pretty girls and the thrill of being the fastest on the track and first across the start/ finish line each lap. Drivers that had to find a ride , work on it themselves and finish well just to get another chance next week. Fans that filled the stands , infield and trees around the tracks that had a view of what was going on inside. What was it that was going on? It was racing, rivalries, and tradition. Real cars like Ford, Chevrolet and Plymouth that looked like cars and fans could relate too and anyone from just good Ole boys from the farms , mills and unemployment lines could stand beside managers, salesman and store owners and no one knew the difference. It was about a race with cars that still had the windshield wiper motors in them, glass windows and hubcaps removed at the track and no one cared or thought about it because they wanted to know who lead the last lap and what manufacturer of the car was. It was all about just racing.

In order to have a shot at Nascar you have to have some money or connections. One or the other. It's always been that way. Even Dale Earnhardt had name notoriety. Dale was also finding money somehow that on paper he wasn't making at the jobs he worked. That's not mentioned but he was getting money from somewhere.

And one of those races Was a Race where he had several restarts on the front row, and he earned his keep he held them off kept the lead and won the race and it wasn't a restrictor plate track like Daytona or Talladega it was Texas

It's not true that money or your name can keep you in a good ride. I have a friend who's father and grandfather were both Daytona and Cup champions. He couldn't make the cut even with the best opportunities. He won a few races in ARCA but never could make the cut in the higher tiers. I do believe that money or your family name will give you certain opportunities but it won't keep you in a car if you can't drive.

Sorry, but there really isn't any problem at all with giving a driver crap for being a spoiled rich kid, so long as they never grow past their childish superego and immense sense of self-entitlement. That's what separates guys like Austin Dillon from Jeff Burton, as you said. The Burton brothers are rather grounded and southern. Austin Dillon? Southern? Eh, maybe. Grounded? Hell no. I'll argue that every single driver in NASCAR is a "silver spoon" in some sense, but the ultimate difference lies in a) those who have true respect for the blood, sweat, and tears of the men who fought for them to get to where they are, and b) fathers who twist their whole world to conform to the will of their children--as is the case with Logano and Childress. The result of the latter is self-entitlement and childish yellow-bellies, though it can still be overcome. The former? Humility, confidence, masculinity, and a *true champion.*
