Rich Mullins \ Creed
I believe in God the Father almighty
Maker of Heaven and Maker of Earth
And in Jesus Christ
His only begotten Son, our Lord
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit
Born of the virgin Mary
Suffered under Pontius Pilate
He was crucified and dead and buried
CHORUS:
And I believe what I believe
Is what makes me what I am
I did not make it, no it is making me
It is the very truth of God and not
The invention of any man
I believe that He who suffered
Was crucified, buried, and dead
He descended into hell and
On the third day, rose again
He ascended into Heaven where
He sits at God's mighty right hand
I believe that He's returning to
Judge the quick and the dead
Of the sons of men
CHORUS
I believe it, I believe it
I believe it
I believe it, I believe it
I believe in God the Father almighty
Maker of Heaven and Maker of Earth
And in Jesus Christ His only begotten Son,
Our Lord
I believe in the Holy Spirit
One Holy Church, the communion of Saints
The forgiveness of sin
I believe in the resurrection
I believe in a life that never ends
CHORUS
I believe it, I believe
I believe it, I believe
I believe it, I believe it

A lot of "Christian" especially Contemporary Christian Music artists are most certainly NOT saved and are atheists who ain't even that good at being a musician and used Christian music as an easy way to get famous off the assumption that Christians will buy anything if it's "Christian"

@@kahnfatman and Victor Labrada, okay, I'm going to argue with Victor first. As much as i would enjoy more Rich Mullins, i personally like the "positive and encouraging empty music" [side note, you meant to say songs, not music, because songs are music with lyrics, whereas music has no lyrics over top of it.] Now for the modern "empty" part, [I'm gonna assume you mean more songs after 2010, so, for the sake of this argument, that is what I'll ,with.] So, your claiming that [at least most] modern songs are empty, so, to counter that, I'll give you some examples of, good, meaningful, modern songs. Alright, First, Trust In You, You Say, - Lauren Daigle, What This World Needs, City On The Hill, My Own Worst Enemy - Casting Crowns, Fix My Eyes, It's Not Over Yet, Shoulders - For King & Country, Masterpiece, Tell Your Heart To Beat Again, If You Ain't In It - Danny Gokey. Now, i could go on and on for awhile, but i just wanted to make my point clear, modern music CAN BE GOOD! [Now, like i mentioned earlier, i really like Rich Mullins, but again, I'm leaving this comment to prove a point.] [Also, I'm not trying to disrespect you, I'm sure your a great person, but I'm not going to let you claim things that just aren't true. That being said, i do agree with you that SOME, not all, modern songs are super repetitive and kinda stupid.]

You hear God's love and mercy in the music alone. I had greatly distanced myself from God for almost a decade, not wanting to live after cancer and nothing could change that, until for the last time I put my hand up to shake my fist..but Yeshua had different plans. In my most hardended heart of hearts, my darkest depression, I felt God calling my name and he opened my eyes, mind and soul. As he called, I felt a presence that was saving me at the last second so instead of shaking my fist to God, but instead my hand clasped the other and begged for forgiveness, mercy, wisdom and love. He turned my contempt for humanity into compassion. He turned my massive igorance into massive knowledge, and my great foolishness into great wisdom.

The change of heart you had was you. For each believer. Their concept of god comes from within. I've heard many believers state. That they feel god knows them so well. Yes. Because what they think that god wants. Is their thoughts. Their inner mind. Their subconscious. Their id. I have never had god come and talk to me. To tell me what he wants. And what he wants from me. Just people who tell me what god wants. And what he wants from me. Tbh. They are full of it. They don't know Anything of the sort. Ask yourself this. If your god existed. Why would he need anyone to argue for his existence?

Hey Deborah. Rich Mullins was my Youth pastor at Erlanger UMC for a few years till he replaced my Mother as Music Director when we moved to Nashville summer 1978. When he began to play piano or guitar, you stopped to listen.... he was special, unique and gifted. He chaperoned 6 of us,( UMYF youth) to what would be my first of many Rock-n-Roll concerts, Kansas 'The Leftoverture tour' 1977. We were watching Cary Luftgren the keyboard/ lead singer during 'Dust in the Wind' and Rich leaned over and said to me, 'That's what I want to do when I grow up.' I remember looking at him and laughing WITH him, and said, 'You might just pull that one off, Rich.' We moved and lost touch and it was 1990 before I realized he had indeed pursued God's call in such a special way!

It was because rich saw a grip and ran from it he didn't want fake he didn't want what was easy or sounded good. He wanted truth. He didn't care what was popular or what people thought of him he was on a mission, and though at times I'm sure he struggled to see it but that is beauty of his life. Rich, none have ever had a heart that is more pure, and though you loved the beauty of nature, surely you are in a place now reserved only for those whose heart somehow manages to remain true, and at least I can take comfort knowing that you are now truly free.

Rich Mullins was a Ragamuffin saved by grace through Jesus Christ and he himself testified to that... Ragamuffins are the unsung assembly of saved sinners, who are little in their own sight and aware of their brokenness and powerlessness before God. A ragamuffin knows he's only a beggar at the door of God's mercy (words by Brennan Manning - chief of ragamuffins)... THIS WAS THE REAL RICH MULLINS BY HIS OWN TESTIMONY...

I've had such a difficult, emotionally-fueled spiritual journey so far, from when I grew up Christian to now as I struggle to understand how I "fit" into religious categories. That's not important. What's important is that this guy made me passionate about music and it forever changed my life. I never would've gotten excited about playing piano or guitar or later percussion if it hadn't been for his musical style that became so intrinsic to my own. I hope Christian artists never forget this man and his contributions to their genre and don't get completely loss in vaguely positive synthesizer music forever.

The first time I heard him I was just a babe in Christ. It broke my heart to hear of his passing. Just thought of him today and that's why I'm here. I know he is now resting in Peace in Jesus's arms.

Does not matter whether Rich was a Catholic or not...We won't be judged on the banner we carry. What will matter is did we love Christ with all our heart, mind, and body. Did we love, did we forgive...did we have compassion for the lost, did we help the "lest of these". All else is blather, and means nothing...absolutely nothing. Same on anyone who says only Catholics go to heaven, just as much as though who say they Catholics won't...trust me, they are out there. All that matters is Christ, His cross, mercy, grace, and justification...for me...a sinner.

John, them so called holier than thou boys that are trying to throw their man made religion around is so not worth losing your peace over. I've been there with them and they are so self righteous they know nothing about grace. We know the truth, And that truth has made us free. Keep your peace brother and wipe the dust off your feet. Do not cast your pearls before swine. God shall judge their false inventions of doctrines. As Rich Mullins sings in this song Creed, "It is not the invention of any man that is making him"

Hi Melissa!! Thank you for your loving support! I love those in the Catholic religion...but I feel is though with the pagan influences, sprinkled with biblical truth, it is sad...many are deceived. As a prior Catholic, I know their beliefs on Christ is in the right place, but everything else is flat out wrong. For those to throw stones at Luther as being a heretic, yet not acknowledge the heretical teaching of the Catholic doctrine....is very hypocritical. All is well my sister...my peace is in tact, and having a dialog won't stir it away. ;-) Blessings!!

I seen Rich play this song in a concert he was 20 feet from me back in 1995. I have many of his songs and cherish them. I remember the radio played them and one day they told me he had died in terrerible auto accident. The radio host saddened as we all were, said that Rich had reached so many that churches all around the world were singing his songs and that because of this the dark satan wanted him. I still miss this amazing man and the impact his music had. May God bless him and his music

God saved me from death. He delivered me from a tornado. Jesus died for everyone. God spoke to me through a preacher. I had went through a difficult time and he wanted me to be healed from it. I have a intercessor now who prays for me. When the words are not coming from anyone else. Please remember you are worthy of the father and he will meet you wherever you are.

And what about the people who died in tornados. And other natural disasters? Or accidents. Do you suppose that they weren't worthy of being saved? Especially the infants. The ones who die in natural disasters. Or from diseases etcetera etcetera. I guess they were evil. Smdh. Yes. I know I'm being sarcastic. Sorry but I have issue with someone. Who has the mindset that you. And others display. I grew up a Christian. I was going to go into the ministry. It was not my intention. But I came to the realization. That I no longer believed. I could not be honest with myself. And accept things. That outside of the church / religion would be considered absurd nonsense. This is just the tip of the iceberg. But in the Bible. There is a talking serpent. A burning bush that talks. A donkey that talks. A virgin giving birth. And a dead person coming back to life. I'm sorry but in my reality. Serpents don't talk. Burning bushes don't talk. Donkeys don't talk. Virgins don't have babies. And the dead do not come back to life. I'm not trying to get you to leave your faith. A person has to come to their belief. Or non belief. On their own. I just want you to try to understand why others might not believe as you do. That does not make someone evil. Or misguided. Because they don't believe the way that you do. Or don't believe at all. I've encounter Christian's who would be totally mystified. When they find someone who doesn't believe as they do. Or don't believe at all.

He touched my life and still does even though he has one to be with our Lord and Savior. Thank you for sharing this beautiful song. It is a blessing.
