I've rarely seen such a smitten looking interviewer. He looks like he's one slip of reality away from his eyes literally turning into hearts.

Wow, an Ayoade interview that didn't collapse in on itself. Shame no films in progress.

I never want to meet people I admire, especially artists. But I would really like to have a beverage with Ayoade.

I've had the pleasure of meeting him and he is very charming, though socially awkward, really can't see him being one for wishing to go for a beverage with folk.

And let me add: Ayoade's theory that 80's cinema is somehow responsible for the rise of the Trump cult (and Trump himself)...this is dangerously close to a conspiracy theory of my own regarding how little my generation has touted in what we consume (music, television, literature, films), in not asking much of ourselves and/or avoiding any real tax or challenge of our emotions and intellect. It became more cool to avoid the crippling charge of "being pretentious" by waxing poetic about the poetry-absent Die Hard movies or something of the sort. The steady lowering of the cultural floor...a laziness, an about-face to actual, quality art...might be an ingredient to the demise of civilization. Which I feel is very much underway, a la Devolution. (And I grew up in a trailer park in Oklahoma so, possibly, my resentment for where I came from has made me so anti-nostalgic, landing me here as the grumpy nerd that I am today.)
