Just in case you don't already know, Richard, while not the host, has been on Adam Buxton's podcast twice. The first time was recorded during downtime while they filmed an episode of Richard's Travel Man show, and the second as a book club discussing Richard's favourite book The Catcher in the Rye along with Sara Pascoe. As far as I know he has not been on any other podcasts (unless you know of others..?)

I have watched a few of the interviews from this site. This style of intimate, less frenetic, interview harks back to an simpler time, which nowadays seems refreshingly new. No gimmicks, hosted by a professional rather than some comedian trying to get laughs, great job. You even managed to get more out of Richard than most interviews I have seen. Ayoade is thoroughly interesting and underrated, even although that might be self inflicted.

That was very good :) We love this guy in my household. We actually went to a book signing in Blackwell's in Oxford, wife and I both bought our own copy. As we queued we were encouraged to write a short message on a piece of paper that Richard would then write on the inside cover, sign and on request take a selfie with you. Well, we queued, and waited, for a reasonable amount of time. When we got to the front, Richard signed my wife's book and took the obligatory selfie, but, when he looked at my piece of paper, he looked at me and said he couldn't really testify to what I had written on the note could he. It said, 'Although I am a super stud, I did not enjoy having my afro stroked by Diaz'. This was a reference to Cameron Diaz, taking it upon herself to start stroking Richard's hair on a famous British talk show, which was no doubt demeaning but Richard showed nothing but good grace and poise about the whole situation. He all but acknowledged she had been out of order, but did not want to bare testament to that fact by scribbling about it and signing in his book. We took a selfie and I went home happy enough with his signature.... but no message :)

Can’t blame the man, that’s the kind of thing that could come back to haunt him someday, regardless of the fan’s intent. (No judgment against you whatsoever, I just know from experience that one must guard oneself very carefully against unwanted publicity.) I saw that episode of The Graham Norton Show. Cameron Diaz was appalling, and she also cut short his segment’s wrap-up (“::gasp!:: Red chair?”). Ayoade is a consummate professional, a breath of fresh air in today’s smog of tabloidtainment.

I love his face at 10:35. Aside from him being practically giddy at the absurdity of vaginas in the air being reassuring to people afraid of flying, he seems to be genuinely invested in the person he's talking to feeling what he's feeling. I've never seen an him so keen to make a connection before.
