He still had the voice. He left a legacy for us all. I am his grand daughter and one of many of his grandchildren that does music. As well as his great grandchildren.

He absolutely did. When I met and spoke to him for my first book, he was not in good health. But when he opened his mouth and sang, it was still magic. Richard Blandon's voice was clear, his diction perfect, and his songwriting romantic and appealing. In my mind, he was one of the greatest lead voices of the era and one I will never forget. He signed my copy of "The Dubs Meet The Shells" and it is framed on my wall today.

Why only 2900 views (2022) on this great performance by the original lead singer of the DUBs! Best live performance of this classic outside of the original from the 1950's in my opinion. Blandon's soulful singing is astounding considering his deteriorating health. May he rest in God's peace.

I usually do not like re-makes but this one is fantastic, it shows respect to the original cut over 30 years earlier and they really feel it, not just going thru the motions.

Leslie joined original member Cleveland Still in his Dubs group when Cleve and Richard went their separate ways about 1984. Richard was the original lead.

NOT Richard Blandon of the Dubs!
@DOOWOPTRB3 жыл бұрын
It absolutely is Richard Blandon. I knew Richard and was with him just a couple of months before this was filmed. His hair was thinning as his health was failing and he started wearing this wig. His stamina and his physical appearance were failing badly. Cancer and alcoholism caused what we see here. But his voice was still clear and his diction perfect.

The Person who said thats not Richsrd is so wrong. Listen to that VOICE and you will know its not Cleveland Stills and his Grou0. Saw one if Richards last peformance at Westbury Music Fair and we were all shocked and saddened as he took the stage with a cane and was struggling to walk. When the music started and we heard that MAGNIFICENT VOICE WE ALL CHEERED AND STOOD IN ADMIRATION OF ONE OF THE GREATEST LEAD SINGERS OF ALL TIMR. WHEN I THINK OF THE GREAT DUBS I ONLY THINK OF RICHARD BLANDON AND HIS DUBS NOT CLEVELAND STILLS. COULD THIS BE MAGIC? YES INDEED RICHARD ENCHANTED US WITH THAT MAGIC- BES8DE MY LOVE, CHAPEL OF DREAMS. BE SURE MY LOVE..

one of the best voices in the fifties, started as the scaletones, marvells abc label 1956 and changed their name to the dubs 1956, so many great sides by them. now we know somany great leads of the fifties east to west north to south while it started in the 40's it was the 50's that came before its time for songs that covered every imaginable era afterward so before i was born in 61 the music of the fifties had my favs as theme songs for my love life in my teens and twenties call it music ahead of its time think of the charmers on central 1954 in the rain as to a girl I met in 1984 and that girl came to me in the rain. solitaires, five keys, crystals on deluxe, hollywood flames, jacks, feathers, deltas, and many more groups I have grown to know while i was in my teens and 20's mostly.
