I met Richard Branson in a pub years ago after he stopped for directions. He played pool with me and my friends for a while and came across as a genuinely nice guy, offered us drinks (which we politely turned down and offered to buy him one) and after having a good laugh headed off.

That's amazing. I met Mark Cuban at Ghost Bar Palms Hotel one night we had a 10 min chat about nothing. He offered to buy the round of drinks and my buddy absolutely said no. I paid for the round. This was around 2004 or 2005. Before shark tank, but he was known for Dallas Mavericks. My buddy had no idea who he was. The bar was full of 21yr olds that probably didn't know who he was coz he was standing alone for 5 mins before I made my move. 😀

The description for this video mentions a “childish” letter from Trump. I believe Branson used the word “churlish” not “childish”, to summarize the missive he received from Trump, which means vulgar, rude, boorish, and mean spirited. Although “childish,” which means appropriate to a child, silly, juvenile, and immature, seems to also be a fitting adjective.

Here's the letter - "Dear Richard, Now that I have watched your show, I wish you came to me and asked my advice - I would have told you not to bother. You have no television persona and, as I found out with others a long time ago, if it’s not there there’s not a thing in the world you can do about it. At least your dismal ratings can now allow you to concentrate on your airline which, I am sure, needs every ounce of your energy. It is obviously a terrible business and I can’t imagine, with fuel prices etc., that you can be doing any better in it than anyone else. Like television, you should try to get out the airline business too, as soon as possible! Actually, I wonder out loud how you can be anywhere close to a billionaire and be in that business. Perhaps the title of your show, The Rebel Billionaire, is misleading? In any event, do not use me to promote your rapidly sinking show - you are a big boy, try doing it yourself! Sincerely, Donald J. Maybe he was indirectly asking for your help..or suggesting, hinting at an idea that maybe you could OFFER to help a fellow business person
@screaminone3 жыл бұрын
Exactly my thought months ago, he likely arranged the lunch to hit Branson up for financial help, which RB is way too smart to do, like he wouldn't know of the conman's history of debt and bankruptcies, as a fellow businessman, a REAL businessman. Then childishly cuts down RB's show, as if the traitor was the richer of the two---*that* is truly a fkg clown.

We should have seen this in 2016. My friend had dinner with Trump 15 years ago. The restaurant seated 200 and Trump sat there bitching about the 5 people who weren't watching him. Electing him was worst collective decision of Americans since the Civil War.

Just because someone doesn't give a loan doesn't mean they did something wrong . Trump was given a lot of money back in those days and kept losing it when people would give him those loans.... he was losing other people's money . If you had to keep asking your family members for loans and you kept making the money they gave you turn into bad Investments , could you really blame them for saying no at some point

I'd be more receptive to Branson's story if I didn't know that he was asshole buddies with Obama. I'm not backing up Trump- he lives or dies with his own sword. But my question is what motivates Branson to bring that up as Bensinger obviously prepares his Q&A for taping. It leads me to the conclusion that Branson may be grinding more than one axe about Trump. So I take his comments with the proverbial grain of salt.
@seanhurley40034 жыл бұрын
Couldn't agree with you more. Not to mention, it already seems clear trump gets his motivation via competition. Nothing wrong with that. If Trump actually prioritized ruining people's lives because they wouldn't give him funding, he likely wouldn't be successful. Trump says how he feels. Later he adjusts and refocusses on what's actually important. He's transparent, but he's human: he makes mistakes, realizes a better path, then moves forward. He doesn't apoligize. He just moves forward.
