Professor Dawkins talked about his book The Ancestor's Tale: A Pilgrimage to the Dawn of Evolution, published by Houghton Mifflin. He and his wife, Lalla Ward, read selections from the book which, modeled after Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, chronicles the process of evolution through a journey backwards in time. Beginning with humans, different species of life (described by the book's narrator through "tales") join the journey as their reverse evolutionary paths converge with that of the travelers. Following the reading, Professor Dawkins answered questions from members of the audience.

She was my favorite of the two Romana's. I wish her character would return to DW.

Good book and its many pages make it heavy enough to throw at creationists

Having common ancestors is something to be immensely proud of. I wouldn't want it any other way. It shows me how incredibly lucky we are to have come this far and having men and women like the Dawkins to explain the process is what real education is all about. Thank you.

Laila Ward looks fantastic, If this was filmed in 2004, her age would be about 54. She looks like she is in her 30s - good genes!

Wow, those in the audience were so fortunate. His talk begins at 3.23, although the introduction is worth listening to as it mentions the insidious phenomenon of "intelligent" design.

Ancestor's Tale was a doozy! Far more in depth and dense then I anticipated but I still highly recommend it to anyone as much of the various nomenclature and phylograms (although hard to digest initially) are wonderfully instructive and edifying and provide little model trees as concepts in your brain that I have expropriated for other purposes since (when contemplating evolution of culture, art, etc.). Dawkins for world president.

Some truly civilized aliens(many diff life forms from many planets) will find us one day & start discussing on the spacecraft: "Oh this is gonna be hard, they still havent got through the stage where they still see themselves as "others" by still having ideas like race, nationalism, patriotism, etc. They divided themselves with virtual walls & hurting each other. We have some works to do to talk them into reuniting so they can explore the universe together w/ us." Race: Human Country: Earth

The introducer needs to learn a bit of brevity-and never leave your 'stars' standing as long as he did,,,

I thought by the title Dawkins was going to discuss his ancestors past in africa when they built their fortune with over 1000 slaves, it is the reason he hates religion so much because it was behind freeing the slaves and he has to work now like every body else
