Nice video,, at the time of watching (2024) it's very cool to hear these guys' visions and experiences ; I am seeing a digital modules rack in my studio, funny as I started to collect 'analog'. Not! :)

"I pretty much just use all the same stuff as everyone else, no mystery" (runs a bunch of custom firmwares written specifically for him) . on a less troll note, this was amazing to see his workflow, especially the gate probability layering

Amazing! Always interesting to see how others use their system. Extra interesting with someone that takes as unique an approach as Richard Devine.

Matt Murphy I did. But theeeeen....got to know the modules well. And a lot of them were underwhelming. Reverb sucks. The control rocks...but it’s too quiet...kills the balls from the DPO, Rene is really fun: programming is playing it...but it’s so big...Morphagene also, sounds so quiet, especially when you slow down the speed ...I could go on and on.

Surachai cracks me up, he thinks he's so edgy and cool and he just comes off as being really insecure in this video. The Necronomicon thing on his shirt? haha , total effing nineties edge lord move bro! I guess it's cool because Cevin Key has one. The kid who sells weed down the street from me has one of those shirts, too. I'd love to see Richard have a discussion like this with somebody who is on his level.

|t seems to me you don't know the guy, the shirt is part of his entire image. he has used it on album covers, videos and is part of his visual aesthetic. He has been walking around like this ever since he entered the "scene" The guy knows what he's talking about and his demeanor is part of who he is, he is not insecure, he is just like that. He doesn't like to be in the spotlight like this, that's all, he's a very secluded and introverted artist, that's just the way he is. Just look at the way he interacts with Richard, they have known each other for years and you can tell. Also being asking by literally everyone all the time, what's the best,...this or that synth, voice, sequencer etc. etc...will probably eat your soul so to speak...On Richard's level are you kidding me, they are peers, they have been at it for roughly the same amount of time...Yes, Richard started earlier with his releases but Surachai has a few more releases under his belt, they happen to come from the same era of electronic development. Don't judge that which you don't know. Have a good day...

@@gitbuh12345qwerty You do know that surachai is a well respected score composer and is a sought after producer in the advertising industry. He also owns BL_K NOISE, the label he runs with Drumcell (Hypoxia). Ironically Surachai was also the curator of Make Noise Records with Tony Rolando that has released music by Richard Devine, Alessandro Cortini, and Hypoxia. It's also completely personal whether or not you deem someone to be more influential, just because someone is more well known doesn't make him or her,... more influential...it's not like Richard inspired a cult following or brought an entire new genre into existence, He didn't reinvent something to such an extent that everyone is mimicking his way of making soundscapes or music for that matter. He's good don't get me wrong but he's not a genre bender, trend setter or and innovative musician. He experiments a lot and has a lot of friends in the modular world. But that's where in my personal opinion it pretty much stops. I haven't heard a production of Richard in the past 5 years, where I went like Wauw, that sounds different or mesmerizing,..So another league is also kind of pushing it. It's all a matter of taste. We are all but mortal humans, no one is above or below someone else. I enjoy them both, But I would even dare to argue that edgelord is pushing more boundaries then Richard, and trust me I'm not a fanboy...Anyways sorry for this rant, but just had to share my thoughts on the matter...Have a magnificent day...

@@gitbuh12345qwerty just read some articles about the guy way back when magazines were still a thing...Google is your friend these days. I just happen to have a bit of a good memory when it comes to remembering stuff about stuff, my friends call me the encyclopedia of nonsense knowledge...I met him a couple of years back and had sort of a conversation with him backstage which lasted for almost an hour, he's a real laidback dude. I just don't get why you take that much offense based on this video. The guy is just a bit lackluster and to me he doesn't seem arrogant at all, he's just bored because he probably got paid too little to be there, and he doesn't like to be around people, the guy is an introvert and not used to being in an open setting. I kind of have gotten to know why he is that way, because of that conversation. He is also just a bit disinterested, because he knows his stuff and probably also really tired from something I explained in my first comment. If a hundred people come up to you asking the same questions over and over again, you tend to act that way. And if you are socially awkward, well...that's what you get as well. I understand that part of his behavior. Whether or not that is professional is again entirely personal. I would hire people based on what I like and the person best suited for the job. But apparently guys like Richard, otto von shirach, teenageriot and many others for some kind of reason still do want to work together with this "unprofessional guy" I think that the people that know him can punch through that, because they understand who he is... Also I think you misread my comment he is a score composer for advertising. Meaning he scores advertising mainly, he did some stuff for audi, ford, and some productions for small indie film makers. I don't recall those titles. It's been a while, as far as I know. he doesn't have an imbd, he does have an insta instagram.com/surachais/ he doesn't use that often. he does have a youtube channel sort of kzbin.info And from what I remember of our conversation, he really doesn't like being around a lot of people makes him nervous and makes him feel uncomfortable, that probably also why he doesn't know how to act really. He loves nature, his dog named roscoe, his other dog chloe who passed away, his dad who passed away... and is almost always in his studio... And you wouldn't be able to fire him at any place he has been self employed since the age of 19, steady making money with his art and music... Again not a fanboy, rarely listen to his stuff, really just happen to have a good memory for nonsense stuff and happen to have talked to him in person. To me he's a good guy with awkward social skills and too much knowledge about the stuff he really cares about. Again my personal opinion based on what I know of the guy...I hope that helps you out in some way, shape or form. Have a magnificent day...

@@gitbuh12345qwerty I'll take that as a compliment I guess, I assure you I'm not him. I wish I was though, in a weird way, being that accomplished in your own field. I told you he did some indie productions and his other stuff he told me about it. He is not that comfortable on social media, he is there because he needs to have some sort of presence, kinda like myself I guess. Like I said before I talked to the guy once and have been following him on insta ever since then, which is about 5 years give or take. I happen to be a musician/producer myself. Who started making music again after a 15 year hiatus because my entire studio burnt down to cinders 15 years ago, went through a massive depression, came out of it and picked up music again about two years ago. I just released my first single and about to release my second one. I have to add I'm in a completely different field of music. You'll see if you want to go there. Just started a year ago with modular, still trying and testing my ground to walk on or into...Here's my insta if you don't believe me. instagram.com/mannmatic_/ I've watched the video and already told you how I feel about the guy, a good guy with awkward social skills. You see a jerk, I see an amazingly awkward guy who doesn't know how to behave...That's about it. The hair and the way he looks and how he behaves, might be off-putting to some and cool to others. I'm in the field of I don't care what you look like as long as you are a good person, you can look the way you want to it's your personal image and I could care less about that... But hey then again, you can't argue about taste, right?! It's really cool to have been talking to you. I hope you can now better understand who I am. I'm just a weird guy with a good memory for a whole a lot of non sense. Have a magnificent day...

@@gitbuh12345qwerty I really don't get your passive aggressiveness, for no reason. You seem to be offended by just about everything and somehow you call me a Karen. If anyone is acting like one, you should try looking in the mirror. Why do you have to act like a jerk, you accused him of being one and now you are acting like one. I have only been nothing but nice to you and I was only trying to give you some extra information, that you might not have known about. You were the one who thought he was talking to the real surachai..And now because you found out that was not the case, you are disappointed and offended again. At least that's my best guess. You seem to have a problem with just about anyone. Which I really don't get... Why could he use my sympathy, the guy is doing just fine by himself. He is an accomplish musician, has a good career and is a true artist regardless of what you make him out to be... I really don't get why you are acting up like this, you were the one coming back asking questions about him, I only answered them. That's about it, I even complimented you for the way we had kind of a nice conversation. So I really don't get the hostility all of the sudden, but I guess that's just the internet. I hold no grudge against you, even though I don't understand why you felt the need to try and insult me for no reason whatsoever... Anyways, I wish you nothing but the best and have a magnificent day. And I mean that. Be well...
