"Some people go to film school, I just made a film." Now THAT'S an artist for ya. Take the risk, no trappings of the film school grind, and get it done.

I do hope Mr. Elfman gets word that at least one of us out here thinks The Forbidden Zone is the greatest movie ever made. It's hard to imagine a sequel without the King and Queen, RIP.

I think there is one oddly enough

So grateful for Richard Elfman and his Forbidden Zone. It's so great to remember seeing a film in a theater with no idea what we were in for and loving every second of it. A great reminder of living life without worrying about what's around the corner.

Richard Elfman. Because Tim And Eric wouldn't be shit without The Forbidden Zone. Plus he introduced the World to Oingo Boingo. Need I say more in regards to this man's importance?

I wish Richard made more films. People love art but they are too preoccupied with trivial shit to realise. Genius is a curse.

@@stevepd1 I've been looking for it, I heard its a wild one, hiding online somewhere. He's created some other films too but they are esoteric & seemingly kept hidden.

One more thing id like to add,is that just because something is a financial failure does not mean its not an artistic success.

Some of the most brilliant work I have ever done was an abysmal failure. Failure makes your brass stronger. You need to learn to fall down.

What he says here is true. People should be in the industry because they are passionate about their art,be it painting,filmmaking,music,writing,etc..not because they want to make money. Back in the old days studios werent afraid to take artistic and creative risks, today its much more crass and caculating than it was and has become all about the bottom line, thats why there is so much crap put there these days and so make "remakes". What he says here about taking risks is also true. Unless you try something while you can, youll always wonder about the road not taken and wish you had done it. The thing is that its easier said than done, because for most people losing their homes would be a huge issue, especially if you have a family and other people to think about.

Taking a chance of making a fan film feature, it was ambitious! While it's done well with feedback from audiences, I couldn't make money out of the film due to copyrights. Being a first-time feature film director myself, I told the story that I wanted to tell.

He’s Danny Elfman’s older bro. He’s made some cult films. I agree he is pretty evasive. One thing I always want to know is how to people support themselves especially in low budget films.
