In this Symposium on International Law and the Quest for Security, Professor Richard Falk discusses the origins of the modern state and the issue of sustaining internal order and security amid an international environment in which terrorists groups that are not territorial can inflict severe damage within sovereign states. Professor Falk also talks about issues of war and peace and the relationship between the world's primary superpower and the United Nations in relation to the current Iraq/US conflict. The Supremacy Clause seems to allow, in effect, changes to the US Constitution through the ratification of international treaties. Treaties are ratified by the Senate alone. Amendments to the Constitution require either super majorities in both Houses of Congress and legislative consent from at least 3/4 of the state's or (not yet employed) a Convention can propose the amendment. The Dupremacy Clause thus forms a dangerous opening for the executive (if it has a comfortable majority in the Senate) to modify Supreme Law. Under ordinary circumstances, other countries do not allow international agreements to be automatically applicable in domestic law; primary domestic legislation has to be enacted.

International law is easy; if you have harmed anyone, either physically or monetarily, the international law says that you are responsible to correct that harm, that is it, that is the premise for the complete structure for International law, plain and simple. For example; there is no law regulating speed on the streets/highway , because as long as you have not harmed anyone, there can be no law put into effect.

@saleha250 Either go to a school like the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy (at Tufts) or choose international law (whether environmental, humanitarian, trade, financial, or other) as a field of study at your law school.

Prof. Falk You should sit in as a student you have lots to learn and it is a sin to teach your biased views of law and especially international law.

The law of nature (or God's Law) is the only true law, anything else is just wishful thinking by big egos that need their ego massaged (called legalities). No one need read any book to truly understand the only true law. LOL, it has been a long time since I have been called an ignoramus, thank you, I shall consider that a compliment from a person that gets knowledge from a book.
