Gasquet is terrific. He is the most elegant tennis player...almost like Stefan Edberg.
@CeruleanTwist13 жыл бұрын
Gasquet sets up his backhand brilliantly. His forehand is usually mediocre, but he seemed to be hitting it very well. Also his serve was very good, a reason why he had some success in the tournament

i rarely comment on videos...less so in tennis highlights...but this by far is the best highlights i have seen and i've seen them all...most highlights just are just edited for the amazing rally's which i like however it takes away the thrill of the actual match because we don't know what the scores are...but this highlights still maintains that level of excitement because you showed us the importance of a certain break point which i salut to you, please make more of these types of highlights

I agree, he became more passive, over the years, especially from the baseline, attacking less and not taking more control, in the rallies and for some reason, his forehand, lost that awesome power..I recognize this..his game did ressurge a bit more in 2009, after he lost weight and got into really great shape..

this loss wounded Andy's 2011 season. He had a 16-2 record heading into this match and he was playing well because he won Memphis, and he made the final in Brisbane

Incredible shot making from both guys. I expected it from Gasquet. I didn't from Roddick. In the end though, I'm left speechless again watching those backhands from Gasquet.

I really want Gasquet's backhand !
@ImAlexGoodwin12 жыл бұрын
Not that I'm a part of this but look up Roddick Never Hit a Big Forehand, it's a two-part video and just what you're looking for. It shows the old power-playing, flat hitting Roddick of the pre-2006 era.
@JonnySV13 жыл бұрын
@Shadevortex2 Anywhere from Eastern to Semi-western, depending on the shot, he just turns his wrist on the take-back so it looks like a continental. If you google images of Gasquet's forehand at contact, it looks far more normal than it does in real time.

@MaratSafinVideos I shouldn't have said that his volleys have become better, but that he has a net game (somewhat), he never used to go up to the net, only to finish points.
@Kiasko13 жыл бұрын
His single handed back hand is so powerful but it seems like it needs more preparation and if its a reaching backhand its hard to do a backhand wrist snap with power. I want to see a player in future to be able to use both single handed and doubled handed backhands.
@tennisjiujitsu13 жыл бұрын
alive in 03 ok? he plays passively because he doesnt believe in himself as much when he was young. Nadal plays more passive then Roddick and it seems to work for him. he generates way more spin than Roddick and works for him. how do u think u generate spin and pace?
@extradutyfelt112 жыл бұрын
back in 2004 even with spin, roddicks forehand was still a massive shot..

have no ideia, what your comment refer´s to or what you mean by that..
@JiraiyaSama8613 жыл бұрын
@federerownz well its not really Nadal playing mor passively. when he's aggressive he'll move you side to side n try to create big opening for a winner. He doesn't try to crack one unless it's big enough for him generally. other times, Nadal finds himself pushed far back and finds it tough, like Murray at times to get back inside. Roddick is more passive as he doesn't really try to create opportunities often enough, and mostly hangs way behind, not really looking to find a way back.

Gasquet is a good player. But to be a top player, he should improve his forehand and learn to play more aggressively.

anyone know what gasquet said at the end to roddick? and man... arod had 2 break point to take it to a 3rd set but i guess he got nervous and went back to slicing "/ ... i really want him to win some tournaments before he gets too old since roger federer screwed him over so many times. he deserves it
@bbbcccnn14 жыл бұрын
roddick has a great forehand if he plays aggressive
@extradutyfelt112 жыл бұрын
a-rod always played with spin and he does flatten his forehand in certain moments.. if you hit flat all the time, you´re playing high risk and you will probably make more unforced error´s..andys backhand is a flatter shot and he usually hits his backhand, on the rise.

I don’t get why in 2010-2013 Roddick changed his play into quite defensive.

tough second set, both playing agressive from the baseline, if roddick hadn´t missed a few bad return´s, he might have gotten the 2nd set..good baseline rallies.
@gerridela12 жыл бұрын
he is. but he gets a lot of air under the ball its not an easy play to pull off repeatedly. Andy murray hits a lot of drop shots against gasquet and it works.
@ImAlexGoodwin13 жыл бұрын
to think, if ARod had played the entire match the way he tried to play the 2nd half of the 2nd set, he might have won (minus the poorly executed set point returns) I wonder if he thought he was gonna make a comeback like in Miami last year against Rafa. It's a similar scenario, he's down a set and midway through the 2nd set he decides to go for much more. His plan B should be his plan A
@dunih11 жыл бұрын
Definitely is better. Just take a look on the backhand winners he use to do on every match
@bananatree123456713 жыл бұрын
why are people saying gasquet's forehand is that bad? it's just normal. He tries to spin it a lot, hit it a bit like nadal (but not as good obviously). You don't become number 14 in the world with just a terrible forehand. The opponent would just exploit the weaker side.
@ppsecurito13 жыл бұрын

Actually to be honest Gasquet beat Roddick in 5 sets at Wimbledon in 2007. That's impressive
@SHVideografie7 жыл бұрын
Gtfo, Roddick made 3 wimbledon finals and 2 US open finals (and won 1 of them), he has been the world no 1. as well. Gasquet is pure talent, but nothing compared to Roddick in terms of commitment and achievements.
@extradutyfelt112 жыл бұрын
not true, roddick uses his leg´s a lot, especially on serve..he bend´s his leg´s way down and explodes up, when he serves and when he´s setting up his groundstrokes, his knees are usually well bent, his position is low, before hitting the ball.
@halowannabee1212 жыл бұрын
The only reason gasquet won was because roddick doesnt try to go after points. He lets the game play him, not him playing the game.
@Hijinked12 жыл бұрын
I swear, Roddick would be doing so much better if stopped picking bad times to come to the net.
@Jake1985Nazar13 жыл бұрын
You can see with his ball striking and powerful FH that if Roddick would stop playing those cheeky slices he would win more points against guys like Gasquet, Lopez, Simon etc. In a rally once the opportunity arrives Andy has got to go for a poweful FH winner to many times he goes for a volley FH or slice it does not work that shot punished way too much in this match.

Gasquet le plus gros gâchis du tennis mondial. Un jeu de numéro 1 mondial mais un investissement tennistique ridicule fait de blessures et de déprimes.
@littletennisking13 жыл бұрын
you dont make that winner at 13:17 out of talent, you make it out of hard work and determination, that's why when my dad said ill never meke in tennis, i show him the picture of roddick losing in wimbledon 2009
@AkMachx13 жыл бұрын
Omg Andy... he used to be good but now.... he sucks bad.... Gasquet made the game.

the spin is not the problem, rafa nadal spin´s even more than roddick, the difference is the amount of power, generated with the spin..
@extradutyfelt113 жыл бұрын
@timafi how many grand slam final´s has gasquet won or made? 0! how many masters series titles has gasquet won? again 0! he´s the same age as nadal, djokovic and murray and he´s acomplished far less than them, don´t put him on a pedestal just yet!
@Blinx48213 жыл бұрын
i feel like roddick played net too much, a lot of his lost points came from just being too close to the net

gasquet's forehand is terrible. backhand is supreme. Stands super far behind the baseline to hit it, however.
@tennisjiujitsu13 жыл бұрын
@guitarfreak223 some1 make a video response on how to hit a forehand or any other shot in the game and ill gladly make a response on how your wrong. he hits with only spin cause like i said before he has the worst technique and doesnt believe he can beat these guys very simple, people tend to complicate things they dont understand.
@JiraiyaSama8613 жыл бұрын
@federerownz he has no real legs. His technique is mostly upper body. He can't even flail himslf into shots the way the Big Four can. He's also too stiff.
@insomniawheesung13 жыл бұрын
man roddick needs to work on his net game

@tennisjiujitsu13 жыл бұрын
@MaratSafinVideos yea i agree, his technique is sooo bad that hes not able to hit the ball hard when he wants to thats y it looks like hes flailing his body when he hits. Roddick is a big guy but cant do anything with the ball. only reason he stayed in top 20 because of his serve. its not a coincidence Federer kills him everytime they play. no spin no variety poor technique.
@Eitviis13 жыл бұрын
I mean that kind off Playstyle...
@MalphasMikaelson13 жыл бұрын
Roddick doesn't need to work on his net game. He needs to stop slicing the ball and going to the net 'cause it just doesn't work. He should try some winners...
@ozzzyrhcp13 жыл бұрын
i dont think the vid deserves that many dislikes lol
@RohlenFalwethYT13 жыл бұрын
No offense, but even I have a better backhand than Roddick does. There's no pace or anything on that backhand. It's a very defensive shot, and it's never offensive. He also needs to flatten out his forehand, there's not a lot of pace, there's only spin. He also needs to take advantage of his serve and volley game, his volleys have been a lot better these past five years.
