@@lspag7415 I did spend some time with him. It was back in 1991 when he stayed at the hotel where I worked in Tokyo. I checked him and his then wife, Cindy Crawford, into the hotel and walked them to their suite. He was very nice with a sense of humor. He stayed with us a few times, and he was one of my favorite celebrity guests at that hotel. I used to check in all the celebrities. The Japanese staff and I really enjoyed having him stay at the hotel.

I worked on a film with him for months - a very nice, down to earth, low maintenance professional - one day while filming on location - they rented a house in a community for weeks - well the neighbor was cutting wood with a power saw and the sound guy was picking it up during takes while filming inside the house - the AD and line producer went next door telling the neighbor about the sound issue - the neighbor refused to stop - finally Richard went to see the man - he went alone by himself - talked to the neighbor and he stopped so we could finish filming the scene.

Richard Gere is my favorite actor. I have followed his career since 1980 when my cousin, who worked at the local movie theater, snuck me in to watch American Gigolo. I was 14. He has the kindest, most beautiful soul. It is also because of him that I become a Buddhist. I figured that if an actor in Hollywood could find peace and solace in that crazy world through Buddhism, then perhaps I could too... And I have. Thank you, Richard for a lifetime of great movies and films and for showing me the way to peace.

Because he is a practising Buddhist there was a funny incident where he flew into our country and was on the same plane as The Dalai Lama. All these Nepalese didn't recognize Gere and almost knocked him over to greet thr Dalai Lama.......I would have been the other way around and would have knocked over The Dalai Lama to greet Richard Gere.

Richard Gere is really a super nice man in person. I met him a few times back in the early 90’s at a hotel I was working at in Japan. I checked him in at the front desk, and I’d walk him to his room. The first time he visited, he was with his then wife, Cindy Crawford. He was there promoting his movie Pretty Woman. Mr. Gere was always very down-to-earth, polite and had a sense of humor. The Japanese staff and I really enjoyed having him as a guest whenever he stayed with us.

It was the time of VCRs. I rented American Gigolo several times. That's when I fell in love with Richard Gere. And then, like me, he was a practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism! I watched all of his movies, even the first one where he was a young boy. I have a kind friend who is from Madrid but she lives here in Brasil. So I speak English, Espanhol, Français, a bit of Italian and, of course, my mother-tongue, Brasilian Portuguese.

Can't think of Richard Gere without thinking of AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN, the first of his movies I ever watched like a zillion times and I've never gotten tired of watching it. I saw it the first day it was released in midtown Manhattan with this lady, twice my age (22-43) I was dating at the time and who yrs later I learned got stabbed and killed by her own daughter. Never knew what the argument was about but I guess it had something to do with her daughter being high on something. Every time I see Richard Gere I think of AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN and by extension my old friend. Gracias Jimmy for having him and Feliz Navidad with a shot of Coquito. Cheers.
