I feel like Hammond is the underdog whenever they do challenges or specials. May has said himself that Hammond isn't a good traveler. So while Clarkson is always the most dense, and May gets into the most mishaps, Hammond is always the one in genuine discomfort and you can always see him get so disheveled and miserable by the end of the trip and that leads to the best moments as things just start going downhill for him
