This is an extended, contentious, hilarious, and revealing clip from a longer podcast I am making called Richard Harris: Raising Hell and Reaching for Heaven - the title of my long overdue Richard Harris biography. How long overdue? Thirty-three years! Richard appointed me to write this book in 1989 but died before we could finish it. I've now written it to mark the 20th anniversary of his death and because my audio tapes with the man voice the 'ghost' in the Sky Arts documentary The Ghost of Richard Harris. But it uses only sound bites. This is one exchange uncensored and as it needs to be heard - in full.

I have alot of respect for Joe Jackson . If he had took it to heart everytime Harris let him down on meetings interviews etc then he would have shortened the beautiful relationship they had over the years. I think after reading RH book and watching the documentary its clear the respect he had for Harris. He accepted his ego and flaws and I'd he didn't he would not have brought out so much of who was as a person not not just click bait for the toxic media. I'm sure Joe was heartbroken when he passed.

This particular clip is revelation IMO. It gets to the essence of the philosophy Richard Harris lived his whole life. Thank you for sharing. Better late than never. Thrilling to listen to this all these years later.

I thought this showed how crazy his second wife made him. Of course, most Americans don't have $150 an hour for therapy anymore than do our cousins in Ireland. This is the Hollywood culture he's talking about. Most of us are living lives of economic scarcity just as the folks in Ireland and England are. I loved this book.

I am delighted you do. Please leave a review, if you haven't already, on Amazon. Therapy? Writing has always been therapy for me, as my mitoer said to me not long before she died1

I did too. Joe Jackson challenged Harris and I think that's why there was a great respect for each other. Harris definitely wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea. It's sad that most people remember RH for his antics around booze than his artistic genius. Thanks Joe for giving us an insight into the real man.

Harris was spot on about this therapy culture that's even more hideous now than ever. Couldn't agree with the man more.
