For the last fourteen years Other Voices has been capturing musical performances in intimate spaces. The TV show and music festival which began in Dingle, Ireland has travelled to London, New York, Derry, Latitude Festival and Ireland's premier music festival, Electric Picnic.

Richard Sherman, who wrote this song, just died. He wrote Chim Chim Cheree, A Spoonful of Sugar, Trust in Me, I Wanna Be Like You and just about all the songs you loved as a kid. RIP Richard Sherman.

I'm going to weigh-in for the Hawley corner here (not that it's a choice, they're both astounding singers). Richard guest starred on 'The Fix' on Elbow's album 'Seldom Seen Kid' also. His solo career is the greatest presence in my musical life and I'd fully encourage you to check out 'Open Up your door', 'As the Dawn Breaks', Standing at the Sky's Edge', 'The Ocean' and anything else you find (those choices are based on you liking this song.) Enjoy!

Oh WOW. found this song by accident. It is so gorgeous. Both their voices are so well suited to this beautiful lullaby. ( A favourite of mine from a favourite film ) Lisa's quiet, slightly husky voice brings credibility to this gentle song. Perfect combination.

I love the music from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and is one of my top two! The other is Toot Sweet! This is certainly one of the best renditions I've ever heard! Beautiful! P.S. Favourite childhood film. I sing this to my toddler every time I do bedtime. He demands it and it instantly soothes him to sleep. This is a truly magical version. Mind you, RH can do no wrong. Female vocals are entrancing. Love it .

Dick Van Dyke is an actor who first sang this song in the movie " Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" in the 60s, he also starred " Mary Poppins. This beautiful version of Hushabye Mountain features Lisa Hannigan and was recorded in Dingle County Kerry Ireland in St James Church, a lovely tiny venue that has seen Amy Winehouse and Jarves Cocker and lots of othe artists play here.

I found this after watching a clip of DVD singing it, (of course his original is just completely gorgeous and perfect) but this brings a whole different dimension, their voices blend so well and Hawley is brilliant as usual! I've been singing this to my newborn girl to soothe her, I'd forgotten all about this lullaby and it just came into my head one night. Love!
