I just watched a bunch of different of interviews and debates with members of Just Stop Oil. This woman seems to be the most level-headed and coherent so far. I'm wondering if their tactic will ultimately work in Britain in the long run or if it will backfire. I'm even wondering if Just Stop Oil is funded by big oil if its tactics are pushing the British public away from climate related policy issues.

I agree. I’ve been doing the same, watching them all. She seems to be brainwashed. The rest need locked up, some perhaps executed. They all follow the same script and have the same weird character. I think oil does fund these people...most people see these people being unreasonable and just straight up shitty and want to do the opposite of whatever they say...there was that movie with Matt Damon about fracking that shows the hand they are playing...you really need to step back and see the whole process and think strategies over whats being said in front of you but most people are not capable of that
@TawntheAtheist
@TawntheAtheist Жыл бұрын
Agree that she is the *most* normal and coherent.. but she is clearly ruled by her emotions. These people need to chill out and see climate action as a long and gradual game. If things are really as urgent and critical as they believe, we're already doomed. Making changes to carbon use in the 1st world will make next to no difference, because the 2nd and 3rd world will happy use the oil that we do not.

Richard always seems to go vitriolic when questioning on the environment. The extreme heat in California and southern Europe proves we won't survive climate change if we don't act now. In any case, high temperatures cause death for some, crop failure and food inflation together with wild fires. We need to act quickly. Sorry Richard but environmental catastrophe is really coming. I wonder if you'd use the same vitriol for oil companies

You people force others to take a strong contradictory stance. You don’t want to talk, you want to shout your opinions at others, and feel like a martyr for doing so. We tried going high…maybe we should go low, eh? Someone is going to get hurt by blocking those roads. People have had enough of you lot, and your self righteous attitude. Have you ever considered that climate change MAY be because climate…..changes? Without your feelings and anger and what not….have you ever actually looked into what some scientists have said about climate and how it may not be due to us? Or do you just not read anything that doesn’t confirm your strong biases?
@rolandrothwell4840

@@pommiebears I'm angry because your view point denies others a future. The overwhelming scientific research findings says climate change is engendered by humans. People (journalists and politicians) who support further oil and gas exploration are enriched by lobbies on behalf of fossil fuel magnets. In the last analysis, i think you'd find climate catastrophe slightly more inconvenient than just stop oil protesters. You have the responsibility to thoroughly educate yourself about the issue of burning fossil fuels and its direct link to the climate emergency.

Somebody explain Milankovich cycles to them. We are actually coming out of an ice age which began 3 billion years ago. We entered a warm interglacial period about 11,000 ago and since then the earth has been slowly warming. But sure you go ahead with your bag for life and a special light bulb, thinking you are actually making a difference. Fun fact: During the interglacial period of 120,000 - 129,000 years ago, the earth saw even higher temperatures than we do today, higher sea levels and smaller ice sheets.

@marcinpyciak8981 CO2 follows warming not the other way round. What is going to happen is the ice will melt. The Salination will plummet which causes colder weather which leads to the ice reforming. The change in the last 200 years isnt that extreme when you ignore the hockystick lie. You can use alternative forms to produce electricity. Shame electricity is only about 20% of our total energy use.

I have yet to see an interview where anyone from JSL answers a question about the protests and there effectiveness. The go-to answer is always to tell us how bad things are or are going to be, why the government fails us all and how we should care more about the children. All very noble but when someone is handing me a leaflet with these facts on it, as I panic about being late for work or school the message is kind of lost. And that is what they don't seem to get.

As soon as I see some of those activists in an interview I always think the following: I could be labelled a conspiracy theorist but very often there are very rich and capital intensive "donors" behind these activists and organizations. These activists are pressuring governments to implement even more drastic measures regarding "zero carbon emissions". Who is benefitting from these measures? Specific industries like solar, wind etc. and of course the likes of BlackRock which invested in these industries and areas. It always seems to me that these activists always say the same things like they have been briefed by their organizations and "donors" to say the same stuff in interviews "ask for the why?", "our children will die", "the planet will be destroyed", "we will only have 3 to 4 more years" etc. etc. My conclusion: The whole "activist thing" is all fake and these people are just hired by their organizations which are getting financed by BlackRock and others. Conspiracy theory? 😄

Big companies make big profits from green projects, some of our failed energy companies bosses have walked away with big wads of cash, and have now turned to green schemes to milk the government schemes, one of their big supporters is the boss of a green energy company and will profit even more from stopping oil, hardly an impartial person, a domestic terrorist in my view.

100% agreed. The level on which they are trying to have this discussion is absolutely appaling. Constantly focussing on the individual instead of actually showing intrest and trying to understand the issue. Britain's media at its finest.. My word.

Explain how we are going to go green in 8 years please someone because it’s physically impossible!!!!!! Solar only works in the day Wind, when it’s windy lol Tidal power 2 twice a day The only other option you could realistically use is nuclear power like how France does but it would cost absolute billions and billions if not trillions to try and get enough nuclear power stations built in 8 years!!! And with everything we are currently going through after we built them our economy would be worse than Ukraine’s!!!!! So please explain what the government could do better please

you’re suggesting the option is “solar OR wind OR water” like we cant do all of them. you’re also acting like we cant give up the massive excess that is only enjoyed by a few yet will doom us all. humans existed before oil and they didnt have half of the technologies we have now. we can live without oil. we CANNOT live with oil. there is no reasonable debate on that.

@@gios4mawe can move on from oil when the technology exists to move forward. The history of Humanity is defined by our technological advancements. Oil is currently the best option but in a few years nuclear might be cheap and easy to mass produce.

@@GromDarkwater thats sadly not entirely true under capitalism. technological advancement has historically been slowed in favor of profitability. look no further than the sharp decline of computer science when bill gates introduced intellectual property law to the software world despite using publicly funded equipment and open source code to build his empire.
