The Labour Party has branded the bill a gimmick and said it is unworkable, maintaining that they would scrap the plan should they win the general election this year.

It's not quite the 'one for one' the left wing tell you. What it is supposed to be is we would take a portion of the most vulnerable that have sought refuge in Rwanda from elsewhere. However, as we know the Cons. are not to be trusted anymore than Labour are on the immigration issue, and I suspect we'd end up taking more from Rwanda than we sent, and paying for the privilege.

As for stopping boats, a suggestion would be to support France to enforce people who manufacture, sell or own such boats to have a licence and be numbered. Boat supplies to traffickers will become much harder to obtain and reduce the misuse of them. If someone purchases a 20 seater boat, surely this should raise suspicion in France?

Stopping the boats is easy, open safe and legal routes for asylum seekers to make their claims. No asylum seeker wants to risk their life or those of their families, indeed their whole reason for making this risky trip is to give themselves and their families safety from oppressive regimes. Given a safe option they will take it. France have offered space to set up a centre for asylum seekers to make their claims.
