Not only does he have a beautiful voice...but...the hair. THE HAIR! And if you were to check out his band from the late 80's, they all have...THE HAIR! My personal Richard Marx favorite...is "That Was Lulu". Nice little upbeat song. Love his ballads...but, I can only take so much of them before I need something that'll give me a good kick in the pants.

When I was in high school, I'm guessing 1989, Richard Marx did a concert at our local county Fair. It was a pretty cool concert in a very strange venue. Demo derby one night, tractor pull one night, horse racing, then a mainstream current recording artist concert.

I love this song! Sadly I don't know enough songs from him, but the ones I do know I love, Hazard is another classic, with a great story to it. Endless Summer Nights is another great one, and one of my favourite love songs from him... from anyone is Now and Forever. I think there's at least one other song of his I know, but I can 't think of it right now...

Richard Marx still releases great music to this day (just not on the radio like in his prime). He at one time held the record (may still hold it) of having his first 7 singles make the top 3 on the Billboard Hot 100....3 of which went to #1. And in concert he sounds as good as he ever did at 60 years old.

According to Richard Marx, he wrote this song 'Right here waiting' ... to his girlfriend (later wife) Cynthia, while he was touring on his first album... She was very moved by the song. Marx said he had no intention of sharing this personal song w/ the world... but he was encouraged to record it and put it out on his 2nd album 'Repeat offender' in 1989 and it became a #1 single in the US that year. Sadly, Richard Marx and Cynthia separated and divorced decades later after having kids together... He remarried w/ MTV personality Daisy Fuentes recently. Richard Marx had more ballad hits - 'Hold on to the nights'... 'Now and forever'... 'Hazard' ... His uptempo songs include - 'Angelia' ... 'Satisfied'... 'Children of the night'...

He sings better live! I mean, he's great in the studio but he's one of the artists who sounds amazing live. Not just the voice but the energy and the rhythm---you can feel it in every part of his and your bone. Check out his live version of Hold on to the nights, the one where he has short hair not the famous mullet. 😂 That version's immaculate!

Hi Rachel. Richard wrote this song for his girlfriend while on tour. If I'm not mistaken, she was a model and while both were always on the move and in different parts of the world, it was difficult for them tto see each other, hence the first line.... "Oceans apart day after day, and I slowly go insane" I learned this song on piano many years ago and it was an absolute joy when I was finally able to play along with the entire song. If you found these lyrics touching, you may want to try "Now and Forever". Im a sucker for a good ballad so this became my 2nd favorite by him. 😊❤️🤘🤘

Richard Marx wrote this for his wife but never intended to record it. He gave it to Barbara Streisand who said she loved it but would have to re-write some of the lyrics because "I'm not gonna be waiting for anyone!" Marx decided to record it himself, and here we are. He said in an interview that every now and again he gives Barbara Streisand a huge hug and thanks her for rejecting his song. He never would have even considered recording it himself if she hadn't.

You young people try to understand and interpret the songs of the 80s. You don't need to do that. The language, the message, the feeling is in a time capsule. Not made for the present. It's not worth drawing comparisons either. My opinion, nothing more. Best wishes from southern Germany. Mike
