It was beyond sincere, for Robin got his start working with/for Pryor in the mid 70s. RIP to 2 Masters of the Craft.

Hardly routines, he was merely making references to a couple of Pryor's observations to make a point as they do at these sort of ceremonies. Why would he need to have big balls to make references to works of a friend (and a mentor) who he had known for over 25 years? Robin Williams had established himself as a legend long before that evening anyway. If he was a 20 year old comedian saying those things, then yes, that would've been someone with "balls".

This may be Robin’s most consistent TV appearance ever. Tight. Funny. No rambling. And who better to give it in front of?!?

Need I say this... In Robin Williams’ early beginnings, he was one of cast members on the short lived Richard Pryor Show on NBC along with Marsha Warfield, Paul Mooney and a few others. Jonathan Winters may have been his idol...but Richard was the one that got him started.

It ponders me - why Robin Williams was never honored with the Mark Twain Award. He was much better than most people who received the award. Pryor and Winters were definitely worthy. He should receive one even though he isn't with us.

From what I heard, Robin was offered the Mark Twain Prize award. However, according to Wikipedia, Robin refused to accept it for some unknown reason. Nevertheless, he got invited 5 times to honor his fellow comedians namely, Richard Prior, Jonathan Winters, Whoopi Goldberg, Lili Tomlin, and Billy Crystal.

Imvho, If you ARE NOT racist and African Americans know 100% that you aren't ...you can tell racial jokes, ironic puns, and use all the racial tropes to be funny without any social reprise. Robin Williams fits the bill. Don't try this at home please, especially if you haven't accepted the fact that we all may be afflicted with the psychopathy of racism. Richard Pryor thank you for the jokes and laughs that help us with being human. Peace And Love.
