A heartbreaking song about the greatest loss in a war- innocence. Thanks for the upload. Take it easy.

The most beautiful, haunting, and bewitching song I have ever heard! Django Reinhardt is probably playing it to Al Bowlly at this very minute. Who might be singing it? Any ideas?

Saw Wes Finch do a great cover of this last night in a gig supporting Ray Cooper (ex-Oysterband). Hadn't ever heard the song before, but it fitted perfectly with the whole evening's melancholy / war themes. Wes didn't have the pre-song banter of Richard Thompson, though...

Chris, you can find the music for this in Vol. 2 of the Richard Thompson Songbook, sold through his website. It's got chords and guitar tab.Search for "beesweb" to find the site.

I dunno about "true chords" but you can get the gist of it by googling the magic words "Richard Thompson Al Bowlly chords". Might not be 100% but it's good enough for rock and roll.
