Problem is, Richard, if you really stand for free speech, you cannot draw arbitrary lines. even then. in my opinion to charge someone with a speech offence you should be able to 1) habeas corpus; demonstrate that harm was in fact done, 2) demonstrate that that harm was done as a result of said speech. for example, the guy who posted the fake story online about muslim women getting acid attacked after southport, this led to muslims walking around with machetes, captured on video repeating this same fake story, followed by a pubgoer getting stabbed in the liver.

This guy is spot on. Elon Musk is arguing the same thing. Green living has ruined Germany's economy. Other countries have got to learn from those mistakes. We have to wake up and realize we need to use all forms of energy for the right purpose, and not make any one form mandatory for all.
@MidnightSouls5 күн бұрын
Sorry but that isn't really true. Green living did not ruin Germany's economy. They were reliant on cheap Russian fuel (gas and oil) to power their much larger manufacturing base. That dependency left them exposed to geopolitical risk, which caught up with them in 2022. They also let China steal a march on them with EVs. China has all the supply chains and mineral rights and a decade head start in tech on the German car manufacturers, so the best that Germany can do is not quite as good, at double the price. Germany is struggling entirely BECAUSE it did not invest sufficiently in its energy independence and resilience, and because its businesses failed to anticipate the future. The UK doesn't have the North Sea anymore, peak production was 25 years ago, and its delined not through overzealous taxation or mandates, but simply that it has largely run out. What we do have is near limitless, if inconsistent, wind resources and expanses of coastline and shallow sea beds. Grid scale batteries are now cheap enough that they'll play a growing role in smoothing out much of that inconsistency. Ultimately, the path to 99% UK energy independence is with renewables. Nuclear has a part to play too, but that similarly ties us to importing fuel from potentially hostile foreign powers. Gas will continue to have a bit part to play, as a strategic reserve, but to argue that the electricification of everything isn't the most efficient and cheapest path to take for the country is just incorrect, hence why even the petro-state of Texas is leading the charge on the transition. It's just economics.

We need a 2 tier system for healthcare. 1) Anyone who chooses to go private should be given tax advantages and allowance. 2) NHS services should only be offered to people who work and contribute. 3) People who don’t work but use the NHS should be billed. This bill can then be appealed, if they have fallen on bad times and are out of work out of misfortune as opposed to idleness than it should be crossed off. 4) Reduce Universal Credit by 25% and that should be food, energy, and clothing stamps. Offer a £5k loan fixed at 5% over 120 months for people’s who have been on benefits but have started a new job. 5) Deport illegal immigrants

You don't know what English Identity is? Well, with the English it is huge! Since it's Christmas here are my play on the 12 days of Christmas (some are directly related to Christmas to keep it festive) of the Gifts we gave to the world: Frederic Austin Although there were many variations and origins of this carol, it was composer Frederic Austin in 1909 that made it the one we all came to know and love. It is based on a traditional folk song but both the lyrics and the melody were altered by him. According to the Oxford Dictionary of Nursery Rhymes, the earliest printed version of this was a poem dating back to 1780 from the book Mirth Without Mischief. In that version it was a chant or poem that wasn’t set to music. Austin set it to music. Charles Dickens Considered the greatest novelist of the Victorian era. Among his works are The Pickwick Papers, David Copperfield, Oliver Twist, and A Christmas Carol - The famous fictional Christmas story that gave the world the name synonymous with somebody unpleasant and ungenerous; the miser character "Scrooge" - Ebenezer Scrooge. It is said: "One could say that Charles Dickens has probably had more influence on the way we celebrate Christmas today than any single individual in human history." (The Charles Dickens Page). Eliza Acton A food writer and cook who gave the name for the traditional Christmas Pudding. The term is derived from the typical plum pudding that was common in the middle ages. Eliza may have been the first to have named her plum pudding "Christmas Pudding" by applying the name and recipe together. She used this phrase in her cookbook "Modern Cookery for Private Families" in 1845. The recipe still commonly used can be found Here. Eliza spent years testing all her different recipes for food in creating her book. And what also was new was for the first time ingredients were listed separately, rather than in the body of the recipe. Fellow English cook and tv personality Delia Smith once called her ‘the best writer of recipes in the English language’. Henry Cole The world's first commercial Christmas card. Henry sent the first Christmas card in 1843, his friend and artist John Callcott Horsley was the one who designed it. Tom Smith The Christmas Cracker. It all started when he was a confectioner and baker. "On a trip to Paris he discovered the French 'bon bon', a sugared almond wrapped in a twist of tissue paper. Bonbons proved a hit at Christmas time and to encourage year-round sales, Smith added a small love motto inside the wrapper. The inspiration to add the explosive 'pop' was supposedly sparked by the crackling sound of a log fire. Smith patented his first cracker device in 1847 and perfected the mechanism in the 1860s." (Victoria and Albert Museum). Edward Jenner World's first smallpox vaccine in 1796. It saved millions from death, but also prevented the loss of sight or painful disfigurement. Florence Nightingale The Nightingale Training School for Nurses, established within St. Thomas’ Hospital in London in 1860, was the first such school in the world, and her training book; Notes on Nursing, the world's first publication in nursing education in 1859. Joseph Lister He developed antiseptic surgery by spraying medical instruments, catgut. and bandages with a 1-in-20 solution of carbolic acid. "Lister, an English doctor and surgeon, became the first surgeon to perform an operation in a chamber sterilized with pulverized antiseptic. The result? More patients survived than ever before. Inspired, Lawrence created a unique formulation of his own" Listerine Mouthwash was named after him. So was Listeria, a genus of bacteria of the species Listeria monocytogenes. Harold Ridley Intraocular Lens. An artificial lens implant that replaces natural ones in cataract surgery. Cataract surgery with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation has become the most common and most successful of all operations in medicine. His first cataract extraction with implantation of an IOL marked the beginning of a major change in the practice of ophthalmology. "He Changed the World, So that We Might Better See It." (Indian Journal of Ophthalmology). John Charnley Hip Replacement. "Charnley's contributions to orthopedic sciences and surgery are so vast that it would be difficult to do justice when attempting to present more than a mere outline." (British Society for Rheumatology). Bernard Spilsbury Called the 'Father of Forensics' and was the first to introduce the Murder Bag to a crime scene. His techniques revolutionized how Pathology works today. The murder bag (or detective's box), was a specialized bag containing protective gear and tools to handle and retrieve evidence such as rubber gloves, tweezers, forceps, a magnifying glass, compass, ruler, and cotton swabs. "At his most productive, in the 1930s, Spilsbury was performing an astonishing 750 to 1,000 post-mortem examinations per year. He undertook more than 25,000 in his long career. Knighted in 1923, he was renowned as a pathologist who helped to establish the profession as a science." (History of Kilburn and West Hampstead). Thomas Hawksley Clean water supply systems. "he achieved international recognition for developing the first pressurised clean water supply available at the turn of a tap." It also saved many lives from Cholera. His engineering feats are forerunners of modern water supply and sanitation systems. He received knighthoods and tributes from Sweden, Denmark, Brazil, and around the world for solving their water problems. See the article on him: "A Forgotten Hero Thomas Hawksley Waterworld" for the article bearing his name from 'WaterWorld' (an online water engineering magazine serving the water industry worldwide).

Lots of Poles who live in the West use private dentists when on holiday in Poland, myself included. Same standard as the UK if not better at a fraction of the price. For example a 10% corporate tax rate for manufacturig which creates jobs and 40% for distribution and services. Maybe have varying tax rates for different areas eg 10% in Scotland and the north, 20% in Yorkshire and lancs, 30% in midands and 40% in the south. It works! Jobs are created by manufacturing but only minimally by distribution with services very variable. David McCabe aged 86 retired chartered accountant and investment banker. DUBLIN

Peter lost me when he accepted the claim that the Israeli military is committing genocide in Gaza. The population of Gaza has increased in recent years; the loss of civilian/combant life is as low as any war in recent years could be. Urban warfare is always difficult. The critics of Israel never quite state what they'd do differently: file a lawsuit? Hold a candle-lit vigil? Is Israel just supposed to sit back and take it? It faces existential threats from those who make no bones about wanting to wipe it, and its inhabitants, out.
@MrObnoxiousPod4 күн бұрын
My point is that whether or not it is a genocide is being debated. The fact that there is a debate itself implies that what is happening in Gaza is not good. I am not anti-Israel, I just believe the response, as is often the case with this never ending conflict, is excessive.

Net zero immigration nay have worked 15 years ago but now remigration is vital as the millions that have come at huge economic cost and astronomical cost to the tax payer, our culture, way of life and standard of living needs correction or our children have little or no hole in their own lands

Well actually, If non contributing syrians are returning to Syria, and people that add to the country come, That net zero migration is an economic and culturally net positive.

@@barneyklingenberg407810 million reasons why your talking nonsense! 20% of immigrants don't work ! Violent rape up 268 % yougov stats ! 50% increase in women attacked on London underground! Mass immigration has utterly ruined the UK ! Lower GDP , higher taxes for much less return ! Knife crime is sky high and it's mostly non UK immigrants or 2nd generation immigrants!!!! Wake up

The current NHS model is not fit for purpose as it has descended in capacity over 30 years when the demand has doubled due to more elderly and more immigration 15 million more but 50% less beds. This is the management of the madhouse to then expect a good service. France and Germany have 2.5 and 3 times the number of beds ,but no one here ever admits it.

I've heard nothing but bad press about Richard Tice. This is the first time I have ever really listened to the man. I like what he says, and the way he says it. He is cool on the surface, but you can tell that he is really pi**ed at what is happening to this country. They are the only party of serious MPs with business acumen.

Why have we got next to no manufacturing industry in this country, no steel making industry, everything is affected by over expensive energy costs and net zero policies.

I agree, people do need to work but some honestly cannot, my son who turns 18 is autistic has struggled from being small being out in the community and socialiseing and school actually made his life really hard to get the tick first thing in the morning, he now has ptsd and hasn't passed any exams even though he would have got good grades ,he hasn't been outside for 12 month, my partner is also autistic, we are forgotten, he wants to have a job but first he needs support? The government and education have failed him having a bright future

04:00 - Literally millions of us predicted this would happen when the Tories implemented austerity and brexit. The situation we are in now is no surprise. 29:00 - Privatizing the NHS is going to ruin and bankrupt millions of people. 36:00 - our energy bills are high partly because we left the EU. Moving to renewables is an investment in the future and will bring energy prices down hugely in the future. The oil and gas from the licenses we give out goes onto the open world market. We don't get any priority. This is why great british energy and renewables are a great idea. 40:00 - I do agree though that we should have built those nuclear powerplants. Nuclear is also good. 40:20 - Just because CO2 makes up a low percentage of the atmosphere does not mean its effects are insignificant in regards to climate change.

I'm a free speech purist, total free speech.. the only thing that should be against the law is specifically calling for violence against an individual or specific group.. everything else is hurty words or open to interpretation... not liking the Israeli government or any government should not be against the law.. saying anti Israeli government things is not anti semitic... surely I can condem the actions of any government or leader.. Free speech is the cornerstone of true democracy.

I didn't vote for the first time ever (On holiday) but if I did it would have been Reform. I read all the manifestos and Reform was the best in each area. I watched the Farage interview with Jordan Peterson just before the election and he talks complete sense. It's a shame not a single party even mentioned Bitcoin during the election. The UK could turn itself around in the next 10 years if it simply adopted Bitcoin.
