@@Xerxes89 Next week, Tucker is your top tenor!!! I feel that only Mario Del Monaco's metallic voice be the peer of this beauty. And Richard Tucker's voice kept the same shape for so so long, listen to his live of 1973 and 1974, stunning quality. Thank you!

I tend to be a bit snobby towards non-italian singers (not proud of it) but Tucker nonetheless absolutely won my heart with his Turiddu and "O Lola" is even sung in strict sicilian dialect which makes it more impressive.

recorded complete in 1953 on the original Columbia LP Mono #SL123 and Many years later on the Columbia budget "Odyssey" label with also the Tucker 1951 Columbia LP recording of Pagliacci #Y33122 and # Y33123

brilliant diction, truly unequalled vocal acting, the unique tucker sob, the voice that once heard cannot be forgotten.... I saw him at the MET in Pagliacci just before he died and he brought me to a complete emotional breakdown. I love him more than ever.

His carmen and Pagliacci are some of my favorites. You hit the right word, DICTION, yes it is so clean and brilliant. Proud American native produce artist!!!

@@sugarbist This was recorded complete on Jan 29th, 1953 on a Columbia Mono recording, with Tucker then age 39, and a Lyric Spinto at that time, the year before this in 1952, he had sung for the first time live, 3 new roles for him that year in the opera house. Forza, Carmen and Don Carlo, later many more roles, for a total of 30 and had already learned two more ( Earnani and Vespri) when he died in 1975, he was supposed to sing Ernani coming up very soon for him at the Met. opera, but he died suddenly of a heart attack on Jan. 8th.1975, at age 61. RIP. Richard Tucker

@@sugarbist Sadly this from the complete opera recording on Columbia was never re-released on CDs, and being from 1953, it's a younger Tucker in his late 30's.

@@sugarbist It's sad that his complete Studio 1953 Cav. which this is from, has not been posted on you tube complete, because he was not surrounded here in the recording as when he sang it live on Brdcsts. with both Milanov early in the 1950's, and with Farrell later in the 1960', both on on Met Brdcst. versions, yet Mildred Miller here and also Margaret Harshaw, both where wonderful American singers even if not first tier. So Tucker with his fantastic early voice and singing here in 1953 is lost for a re issue on any CD of this great complete Columbia 1953 recording that was once re issued on on Odyssey LP's also but in the 1970's.

I'm giving my own reason why it wasn't re-released on CD in the 1980' s by Columbia in a comment below . Also by 1957 RCA with Tebaldi and Bjoerling recorded it in modern Stereo but Bjoerling had also recorded it in the early 1950's also with Milanov, none the less in Cav. I prefer Tucker but as for records she didn't record on the old Columbia LP's but Tucker did and not until first in 1960 with Traviata and Moffo, Tucker before that did not record on RCA.LP's. Then of course a complete Boheme, 1961, Butterfly 1962, Forza, 1964 and last Juive Hilites 1974, he recorded them all for RCA, following an early 1947 Columbia records Boheme, and a 1949 Columbia Butterfly, both complete.
