@connyzorn5626 ай бұрын

How many decades or even centuries does mankind have to wait to create another genius like Richard Wagner. I am thrilled to have listened to his creations. It never gets old. We have of course other tremendously outstanding musical geniuses (also delightful to listen to) but none requiring nor demanding so much from a 120 plus instrument orchestra. Conductor Maazel made some very nice choices for these excerpts. Also, beautifully performed by the orchestra. Lastly, I have to confess that I might be a bit prejudiced (though I don't think so judging by the "thumbs up") because I was born in Rostock und die Heimat ist und bleibt die Heimat.

Sadly, many thousands of confiscated written literary and musical genius were burnt in the furnaces of the cheka/nkvd/ogpu/kgb to keep their lubyanka offices warm... and in so doing choked off the voice of the Russian people. Who can guess how much genius was snuffed out in the camps?

@Wayne Lutton, Pnh.D. Yes they are very good, better than I have heard from some pro orchestras; but you would need a very poor FM radio (or a not very musical ear) to confuse their playing with the Berliner Philharmoniker. Magnifique !

Wow, I am very impressed with this performance. I am amazed as to how tight and in tune they are. Very good indeed!! The tempos of the conductor provided is also very good. I'm just blown away that they are that tight. The brass players got tired half way through, so their intonation could be better, but hey, they played a lot, so it's not their fault. The strings are have very good to excellent intonation. And they're together!! Plus, the girls are so beautiful!!! They should be models. There are so many very pretty looking girls. 2nd Oboe, the horn player that doubles the Wagner Tuba next to the contra-bassoon, the 1st clarinet, the concert master, the timpanist, and many more. They're all fit looking girls too.

Well Morden101, while I too enjoy the 'music', it is just Wagner's medium; the libretto is his message (hardly fair to consider it 'screeching). In short, it tells of an ancient people wise enough to create their gods as finite doufases who have to eat a special diet to stay young, and have to hire evil giants to build Valhalla for them, and then can't pay when the job is done … yadayadayada … and blessedly die out before screwing up the world too badly. Contrast that with OUR ancestors, who created infinite Deities (and promptly began killing off non-believers willy-nilly) which are still hanging around so preoccupied with not answering prayers that the world is going to hell in a hand basket … and without much really memorable music to show for it.
