Mr. Black as a newbie to leather work I have been looking for a tutorial like this. Thank you Thank you Thank you. Best one I’ve seen. I’m saving this and I’ll be watching it a few more times. Beyond the technique of sewing the loops your pattern making points were invaluable. I’ve subscribed. Thanks again.

Thank you for answering me so quickly. I finished sewing last night and it looks great for a beginner. Thanks to your great video that explained everything so well. I will follow your advice today. I'm excited to finish my project and give it to my uncle in return for him fixing a 1907 lady's rifle for me. Thanks again Richard. I plan on watching your other videos.

You could also use the inner edge to make tighter corners as well. It might give enough room for one more cartridge of a certain size. Running an edger along the edges of the belt would allow it to go in much easier than it did.

Congrats Richard for your work and videos Just have one question : If both pieces are veg leather ( front and back ) why when you apply the Neatsfoot Oil the difference of color change that much ??? I really liked the idea of ussing this kind of oil. It's like dying and protecting the leather at the same time, but I'm affraid of what I'm mentioning above : the big difference of color in the leather when it's applied. Thnks + Rgrds

This is my first leather project. Thank you so much for the tutorial. I am making it for 223 cartridges. I am in the process of hand sewing and I have noticed that apparently the rounds are so tight when I try to put them in. Will the leather loosen up with time or is there a way to make it slide in easier. I must have had the calibers too tight on the leather when measuring. I would appreciate your help. I thought about dunking it in water after sewing and then stretching a little. Thanks

You could dye it after applying neatsfoot oil but the color wouldn't be the same as you want, apply the color of choice before the oil bath. . I use the oil as my color and then apply atom wax and balm to finish it off with a nice sheen. Thanks for the comment and for watching.

Richard? The digital caliper was reading 13.88 mm and when you calculated you did 13.58. Did you do that on purpose... or is that was the 2 inches on either side is for... sort of a fudge factor?

Does the oil work on a leather jacket (black cowhide)?
@RichardBlackII11 жыл бұрын
Not knowing what type of leather is on your jacket, I would say no. You might want to use an atom wax and leather balm made for leather. Try it on an area first before you do the whole coat.
