Thanks Rich for another awesome video of The Biz!!!
@russworks28823 жыл бұрын
The Paradise Lost book he did was all pencil. I think some of those plates are pencils with dark India ink wash for the black backdrops. Bisley may not be thought of as a fine artist, but he seems to have had almost exclusive patrons over the years; Eastman and Danzig are like his Medicis. I recently picked up some illustrated books he did for Verotik and they seem to just be a way to harness his talent without forcing him to do the labor required to make comics. There's a book of Danzig lyrics, a special Biz Verotik World and a perverse vampiric character, "Drukija. Contessa of Blood". All of them are pencil, lots of satanic, brutal imagery, pretty powerful stuff. The last comic I recall was an issue of Harley's Little Black Book. Oh, and there was a Judge Dredd story where he chased a criminal into a Toon dimension that may have been where you saw the psycho rabbit.

Great insights! Thanks so much! I did know Glenn and Kevin purchased a lot of his work. Great call on their part. I think that work will really appreciate in value. There's really only 1 Simon Bisley!

Brilliant video. Absolutely love Bisley this book is incredible, definitely need to get a copy. I think some of the drawings are reminiscent of Ralph steadman illustrations. Love that you mentioned Jim Murray. He is awesome too. I have his first downtown book, but it's really difficult to find Murrays work, don't think he has much of an online presence.

I have this book and find it is a real display of the power of graphite pencil along with his Paradise Lost art book also. Imagine a comic drawn like this in graphite pencils only with some panels fully polished and others loose almost gestural and some in-between. Then Ink the panel borders, captions and speech bubbles only. Probably be faster than inking and colouring. A future project i want to do is illustrate the times before the great flood referencing Genesis 6, Book of Enoch, Book of Jasher, the fragments of the Book of Giants, ancient archaeology along with imagination.

Composition, proportion, lights, bisley, is a very good teacher to learn from , because his composition are very dense and complete drawing wise, so recopy, watch, learn try to understand how îs works, compare to other inspirations references, and draw, no wonder secret have fun, fin the technique you like( pencil, lead, paint, marker wtf.
