Who you see is who you get with RG. He is a gentle, exceptionally talented fisherman, God loving family man, and crazy as a hoot owl! Years ago, when he fished on the pro tour, he was kind enough to bring his bass boat to a fishing event we were holding. He let the kids crawl up onto his boat, and gave my youngest daughter a hat he signed. To this day she treasures it, and is still eager to go fishing! He IS a fishin’ machine, and a treasure to the sport of fishing.

Only thing I use mine for now is to see if there are fish there. I fish in south Louisiana where most places are less than 6 ft water. Active target or live scope doesn't work well in swallow water. I hardly even mess with mine. It takes up too much of my time

A while ago I was at a pretty secluded lake that not even the locals really knew about and I was fishing for bass. Not a single bass bite that day. I say hell with it and throw on a small hook and WOW I was catching some of the biggest bluegill I had ever seen. After that I went straight to the sports shop and bought myself a nice little panfish setup and I couldn't wait to go catch some more. And God bless you too, Richard. Thank you for showing me the panfish way.
@GGeneral716 ай бұрын
For people wondering how he can cast the reel out so far, it's really quite simple, two things, 1) Line, when pan fishing crappie, bluegill, , or similar, when using pan fish size jigs 1/16 and smaller, using fishing line 6lb test or smaller is best, my favorite is Mr Crappie 6lb high viz. I think it's the perfect balance between strength and castability(limpness), 2)Make sure your spool is full, this is very important, full to the edge of the spool,( the more the line rubs on the top rim of the spool as it goes off the spool, the harder it is for the light weights jig to go out. Follow these 2 simple steps and you won't believe the difference, with a light flip of the wrist, you'll be casting those light jigs almost across the lake in no time. It's surprising most people don't know this. Your welcome in advance, and enjoy.

"That grunt is me restraining myself". I heard the same grunt from a better hunter than I, as he restrained himself from pulling the trigger on an out of season deer as his rifle was brought up and in his sight. I heard the grunt milliseconds before I saw the deer bounding off. All I could think of was the restraint as this beauty jumped and ran. Sad to say...my rifle never came up. Yeah, he was better than me... GREAT word at the end, credit where it belongs! Praise God and the blessings of our Lord, Jesus, the Christ!

@nospam34096 ай бұрын
Easiest way to catch bluegill is to fish the beds when they are on them. It doesn't really matter what you use. I've caught them on cheap beetle spins, small cheap jig heads, and even small crank bates, and of course live bait. When they are on their beds, it's easy to catch a bunch in a short period of time. The hard part for me is getting a chance to go at that time. Finding the beds depends on the lake. Polarized sun glasses help a lot, but sometimes the beds are deep enough and the water is murky enough that you just can't see them. If you're on smaller body of water where you might not want to over fish it, try to fish just outside the beds. Those fish are not normally as big, but they try to mess with the beds that the big gills are protecting. Fishing those gills keeps the population healthier in ponds like that.

Mr. Gene, Love your channel, and the character you display in all of your videos! I’m not a big “KZbin” guy but I always make sure I catch as many of your videos as I can! Just wondering if you have ever fished bluegill (especially when on their beds) with a clear casting bobber and a cricket on about a 4’ leader? Basically makes the cricket a top water presentation, and if you are throwing over beds, it’s absolutely deadly! I used to ride my bike to a lake about 5 miles from my house when I was a kid, and would always come back with a stringer full for dinner! Anyway, love your videos, and if you’ve ever fished this way, I would love to see a video on it! God Bless, and keep on fishin… cause it’s good fer ya!😊
