Mentioning the Slezenger bows used in the old black and white series, brings back memories. As a six year old, I watched this on TV in Germany the intro with Robin shooting the Longbow, was my inspiration, how to shoot a bow. I allways say Richard Green was my first archery teacher.

Great video! I was particularly interested as my wife inherited a boxed Ayers longbow and arrows, I'm guessing about the same vintage as the bows you showed, which I've successfully refurbished with the help of your many videos and supplies. Having finished, I couldn't resist cautiously drawing the bow bit by bit over a period of a few weeks, and I was surprised to find it didn't fail when fully drawn! Thanks for your help with this : )

I'd think that many of the recommendations for draw, poundage, arrow weight, lengths etc. , were correct, considering the materials, methods, and components of the day. As usual, great content and advice.

They are in the spirit of the title, for beginners, someone perhaps buying without advice, this was a leaflet handed out at sports shops who may not have an expert on hand. They are a good rule of thumb, but we know that actually measuring someone's draw length and matching a bow to them is much more accurate than measuring their height. Glad you like the video.

Those draw and bow lengths seem rather limited compared to today, I think I'd end up shooting into my own hand if I shot a 28 inch arrow.
