HOW MUCH NITROUS CAN I RUN ON A STROKER LS? WHEN SHOULD I SWITCH TO AN INDIVIDUAL FOGGER SYSTEM? HOW GOOD IS THE FUEL DISTRIBUTION IN A FACTORY OR FAST LSXRT INTAKE? WILL THE NITROUS AND FUEL FIND A WAY TO THE CYLINDERS? HOW MUCH NITROUS IS TOO MUCH? CHECK OUT THIS VIDEO WHERE I RAN A ZEX PERIMETER PLATE THROTTLE BODY SPACER ON A 383 STROKER 5.3L LS! CHECK OUT THE POWER GAINS OFFERED BY THE 383 UPGRADE THEN WHAT HAPPENED WHEN WE RAN A 100-HP SHOT AND 150-HP SHOT OF NITROUS USING THE ZEX SYSTEM! WHEN DOES DISTRIBUTION BECOME A PROBLEM?

Could always do a dry shot with the nitrous and add the extra fuel thru the injectors, this worked pretty well for me with a 200 shot on a stock cam only ls1 for over 10 years.

People just need to know that they better have plenty of injector and fuel pump otherwise things get ugly quick. You obviously upgraded your pump and injector with plenty of flow.

@@danfalley9296 I think he said cam only LS1. He ran the 200 shot for 10 years so I'd bet that it's an NOS or NX nitrous system. The fuel system is easy to size when you know the HP you're planning on hitting. His HP range was 600-625 HP ish.

Hi Richard, Thank you for this video. My motor is similar to this setup. The only difference is, that I’m running a Holley Hi Ram and 48lbs injectors. I’m also running the Nitrous Express Maximizer 5 Progressive system. Still haven’t did any nitrous run on this motor yet. Still trying to get the tune right before I do.

I have a very similar setup going into a 68 Camaro. Only big difference is its a 408 with a dry direct port system controlled by a Holley Dominator. Motor made just over 600 and haven't got the chance to put the car on the dyno with the nitrous yet. T56 magnum, so it should be fun to drive.

"Too Much Nitrous," is when the engine is running wide open throttle at whatever your max RPM is, and fuel and nitrous is blowing backwards out of the throttle body. At this point the engine is not ingesting ANY atmospheric air at all. It is running on ONLY nitrous and fuel.
@donh1572

We used to add two nitrous jets on the throttle body to deal with poor nitrous distribution without having to resort to a direct port system. It was limited to 200-250hp shot…but that’s all we needed

I remember back in the day they had a plate system that was 250hp for a 5.0 Mustang. Had a buddy that ran it. Think it was Compucar...scary stuff lol..I think it was a plate between the upper and lower? Then again I ran a 200hp through a fogger/NA and 125hp through a Paxton ball drive as an intercooler lol...(*edit two different combos, not at the same time!)

Air behaves like a liquid. I suspect (but dont have any hard data whatsoever) Fuel dropping out in the intake is related too the dew point of fuel in the intake. The nitrous and flow cools the air, as that happens the air can only hold so much fuel in vapor form before it doesnt want too absorb any more. I honestly think dry nitrous setups are safer (for a variety of reasons), especially at higher power levels.

As was said, blowers and nitrous work well. If you are doing a C16 setup, give some thought to using methanol instead. Fuel is a lot cheaper and you get a lot more cooling as well. You should be able to run at least 150 hp worth of nitrous with great reliability if you run methanol instead of race gas.

The question I've always had is how much nitrous can be run before the mixture has trouble igniting because the nitrous has displaced too much air? On another topic, I'd assume the Holley can compensate for nitrous nicely? Then you can run a big dry shot and nail the fueling with the right injectors.
@robholmes2129

I remember reading and article on this years ago and they came to the conclusion that doubling an engines power output with nitrous is about max before you have slowed the airflow through the intake to the point that it will not ingest anymore and this is why big power NOS engines have to be so large with Cubic Inches so that they can inhale more volume

@@richardholdener1727 ok, not real familiar with Nitrous setups...so if a certain jet size is 100hp at a certain rpm then its the same for most engines? Heating the bottle makes more pressure so more power?
@AB-80X
@AB-80X 2 жыл бұрын
@@cuzz63 A specific amount of fuel needs a specific amount of air to burn, that will never change. What determines how much power you get, is the added fuel you introduce. The nitrous is just there to add the oxygen so that the fuel will burn. This means that it is not the same for most engines and as Holdener said, what nitrous jet you use, depends on your bottle pressure and how much fuel you introduce. Some select a fuel jet size first and some select a nitrous jet size first. I tend to select a fuel jet and then tune for that, because the fuel pressure and volume is the most stable of the two. I know that is not a direct answer to your question, but I put it here first in order to give you a basic understanding of the system. Now for your actual question, no, a specific nitrous jet size is not equal to a set amount of hp. There are a ton of variables to consider. There's the system itself. Some systems might need X amount of jet for 100 hp for say 7 psi of fuel pressure, while another system might need X different amount for 7 PSI of fuel. Is it a plate, a dry port, how many plates or TB's and the like. Then there's the engine itself. if you have two engines, both putting out 450 hp, but one having a 9.5 cr and the other a 10.5, then there's a difference. Less fuel will mae more power in the higher compression engine. IF THOSE TWO ENGINES CAN RUN THE SAME TIMING! On the flipside, the higher compression engine might need more timing pulled which could hurt efficiency. All of this is a factor even before we start to factor in engine size, cam specs and what not. In short if your nitrous setup nets you 100 hp, then you have a 100 shot. Is that a 100 shot on every engine? No, and jet sizes might vary greatly.
