DIY CAR FARMER VALVE JOB! 2.2L TURBO CYLINDER HEAD MODS. DODGE OMNI GLHS BUILD PART 2-HEAD, CAM AND TURBO INSTALL. GLHS SWAPPING A GLH T OMNI. 175-HP T2 TURBO MOTOR TO REPLACE THE 146-HP T1! CAN YOU REALLY DO A QUICKIE VALVE JOB WITH A DRILL AND LAPPING COMPOUND? CAN YOU REALLY TEST TO SEE IF INJECTORS WORK WITH THEM STILL IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD? THE CAR FARMERS AND I ALSO DEMONSTRATED HOW THE 782 HEAD OILS THE SLIDER CAM IN THE TURBO MOTOR! LOTS OF GREAT STUFF HERE IN PART 2 OF THE OMNI GLHS BUILD UP.

I freshened up a set of heads and I scraped and build up off them and set my kid (12ish at the time) up with the s/s valves a drill press and bunch of scotch Brite grits showed him what to do he sat there zoned in for hours with those valves a spinning and they were sparkling when he was done, and he was proud as hell to see those shiney valves all done.

There was a guy in Oklahoma that used to run 10s in dodge and Chrysler minivans running those little turbo motors.

I rebuilt the turbo myself on my old T1 back when I was in my 20's. I got a rebuild kit for it and it looked like they just spray welded the worn-down spot on the impeller shaft and then just turned it back down on a lathe. It worked, I never had any trouble with it after that.

Richard, I have a request. I’m aware you’re not a diesel guy, however this is a diesel request. What I would love to see and I’d imagine you could garner some new viewers out of it, is a simple p pump 5.9 basic comparison on a mostly stock engine. 1-Compound turbo 2-Twin charged (super charger over turbo) 3-super charged Banks just came out with a twin charged crate motor and some others have done it over the years but the twin charged diesel never took off except in heavy commercial engines. Dyno numbers are impossible to find too. Anyhow consider it🤷‍♂️ Thanks!

I've done similar on the valve lapping, but I use fuel hose and clamps. Clamping the hose to a drill bit and to the valve stem allows you to pull on the drill motor while pushing on the valve head and not have to worry about slipping, probably saves ~37.3 seconds per valve.

I wish I had had one back when we had our Plymouth Horizon, an 85 model that had a 1.6L Peugeot that made all of 65 hp with a 4 speed 1:1 manual trans. With a progressive 2V like a Pinto. The 2.2 would have been a rocket!

When I would hand lap valves I would reassemble them and put the head on its side then pour rubbing alcohol into the ports and see if it leaks past the valves .

I like this series. keep it up. Would like to see custom exhaust manifold made. Having the manifold outlet that close to the intake CANNOT be good. Add a few inches of length to each primary and wrap them in header wrap. I guarantee you will see higher horsepower numbers.

I'd like to see some sort of disclaimer discouraging people with little to no experience with it from free hand drilling with small diameter drills into high silica cylinder heads with unpredictable core locations and wall surface quality. I just don't want anyone to bust three drills off in their head in ten minutes, and lose their mind, or come back here yelling at you about it. Brian's probably been doing this for 25 to 30 years. I've actually had three heads that were cracked from the triangle ports into the cross hole.

782 head was used on all later 2.2/2.5l Always check for cracks coming from the valve seats going towards the spark plug side of the chamber. Always check for dropping valve guides.

I would swap the #2 injector lead with #4. It matches the 4 cylinder firing order a little better. I know it's a batch injection, but my cars seemed to run better when I wired them up that way.
