I taught taekwondo for many years. I cant stress enough your point about taking breaks. Many athletes way overtrain, but it's a fact that you can't train subtle movements into your neurological system when you're tired. You'll get much better results through multiple short training sessions than one lengthy one.

@@RickHolcombe Thank you. Actually, after posting my comment I did follow the link below the video and bought both of your available items. I've got something to work on with all this spare time. Would you allow me to make two suggestions for your consideration? On your site, when you offer an effect/training for sale, it would help if you included a video that demonstrates the effect(s). Also, perhaps you could give a rating for its level of difficulty: beginner, intermediate, advanced. It's just a thought, but I'm sure it would help some with their buying decision. I know I'm happy with my purchases!

Hi Rick, just a small clarification. That black purse is NOT a Goshman purse. It is a Ton Onosaka purse. Goshman purse was the small clasp (lime the granny purse)

Hi Rick, once again thanks for all these enthusiastic videos about coin magic. I just re-started with the workthrough of card college from Roberto Giobbi. But am not sure to be switching coins for cards in the future. Are you doing resp. have you been doing card magic also? I find that all or most of the greats masters have been specialized in this field of magic (Bertini, Roth, Ponta the Smith etc.). To become really good at it, the focus has to be there. I find there are many good lessons that can be applied to coin magic in general (head movement, crossing the gaze, etc.). Keep up the good work!
@RickHolcombe4 жыл бұрын
I think coin magic will help you with any other area of magic. You are forced to think about so much more, other than the sleights themselves. You are correct, it does involve the whole body and the eyes.

What is a source for half-dollar coins, replicas or similar sized alternatives? I find quarters too small and "silver" dollars too large for me. Actual half-dollar coins are hard to find.
@RickHolcombe Жыл бұрын
You can ask any local bank. If they don't have them, they can order them for you. You can also check on Amazon or Vanishing Inc., but they charge way above face value. For real silver check coin shops, flea markets, eBay, and Amazon
@hhampton Жыл бұрын
I asked my bank and wae told they would see what they could do. I never heard back. I looked on Amazon, etc, and by the time you pay shipping they are $4-5 each.

Today I went to a local hardware store and looked through their assortment of metal flat washers. I found that what they call 1/2 inch, based on the opening in the center, has roughly the same outside diameter as a half-dollar. A 7/8 inch is just smaller than a Morgan dollar.

I love your channel. It’s about the best resource for me, I’ve found for coin magic, including books etc. so I say this out of a spirit of constructive criticism. What’s the purpose of the music? it’s almost louder than your voice and it adds literally nothing to my viewing experience. In fact it very nearly ruins an otherwise great video. You could do a lot worse than to re upload this with a much lower backimg track or even better, without the distraction at all IMO. You can leave it on the PR preamble if you like ;) hope this helps. I will quite often simply never visit a channel again because of such things, but everything else about your channel is the beast there is so…….lI’ve taken the time to comment.
@RickHolcombe8 күн бұрын
Thank you. I agree. This was an older video and I don't use music anymore. Making videos was definitely a learning g process for me. Unfortunately, people see you learn and make mistakes out in the open. Thanks for taking the time to comment
@rinkydinkfretboard87378 күн бұрын
@ yeah, had a feeling I’ve seen videos of yours, where I didn’t notice anything. Am Probably getting to earlier ones As I’m working my way through (will be a slow process but I’m likely to watch each one, many times). Isn’t it unfair that the more you perfect something the less people notice ;) ………..but glad you took it as intended. I always feel that Praise is all very well but genuine well intentioned criticism is gold. It’s not always on point, but even if it causes you to reaffirm your belief in the direction you’re going in face of the critique, it’s still worthwhile. Fyi I am a TBI survivor and one of the reasons I like your style is because it is so clear and well produced even for me. Doesn’t mean it’s slow or anything, there’s no shame in being clear at all obviously. But as a TBI survivor I am less well able to “fill in the gaps” easily when something isn’t as well explained, or rushed. Is also the reason the music particularly jars on this one…..I struggle with distraction. Same as everyone but for me it’s turned up to 11 ;) thx again. Great channel.
