When I first saw this movie back in the 80’s, I was maybe 11. I had NO idea wtf he meant lol. Many years later when I saw it again, it hit me and I busted out laughing 😆

The visual joke is compounded by the fact that Larry B. Scott, the actor who plays Lamar, is clearly extremely athletic, muscular -- totally cut. I have no doubt he could throw a javelin across the whole campus, with no help from Wormser.

Whoever wrote that scene is a genius. Every time I watch it I get chills, there is just something about the electric violin that is hypnotic and encompasses the Eighties. I was just a kid when this movie came out, but never forgot this song and how catchy it is. We need more bands today that experiment with electric violins, bands that have the courage to bring back the synths/guitar combo of 80’s rock.

don't bink ** exactly! They are highly coveted. I see 808 parts here and there but, working units are rare. They were so pricy then too. Wiki says they were $1,195 new in 1983. im not sure if that's adjusted for inflation but, i only bought used ones and parts anyway. if its not adjusted that's $3012.23! A current car down payment! lol-- I miss that boom bap! The best of producers are sitting on them! Roland did release more affordable 'good' machines that were 400$. *"Electronics is a funny business. Could buy them from rogue music, they had adverts in the back of keyboard magazine thoughout the 80s/90s. Glad I still have a alot of good vintage analogs but, I will be the first to admit I would be hard pressed to afford most of it at today's prices.
